It was ok for an overnight stay, I wouldn't stay any longer. It took a good 5 minutes for the shower to warm up. Room was clean but furniture, carpet, bedding etc needs to be updated. We arrived at 8pm and there was no dining area serving food.

Dirty only worth 1 star

I am sorry but this is really only a one star hotel. It state's there is parking but this was full as you could only get 3 cars in. The main bar had locals in and the language was awful so beware if you have children also it smelt of urine. The kitchin wasn't in use so no food. The rooms had a funny smell no extractor fan in the bathroom so that could be the reason. No hand wash supplied in the bathroom or shelf to put toiletries or a bin for sanitary use. The duvet was dirty with stains on it and the bed springs made a great noise when sitting on the bed. You could hear every noise from people talking at 4am and the road out the front was very noisy. Tried putiing photos on but the site won't let me.

Most dreadful place I have ever stayed in

I have worked in the hospitality industry for 45 years … never have I experienced anything as bad as this… dirty, smelling of damp in the cubicle called a bathroom, paper thin towels … the place should be closed down as a health risk. Bedside lamp melted, the headboard screw whiff and lumps of plaster out, broken electric sockets, the stairs a danger especially when you try to avoid dog poo, the hand rails are so dirty you don’t want to touch them, fire doors a hazard when trying to carry a bag… oh did I mention grubby ? I should have been paid danger money to stay there! Avoid at all costs!!!

Now I must make it clear the staff were very good. They were polite and helpful but working in very difficult conditions. The rooms were like prison cells, with paper thin walls. The single bed was very uncomfortable - in fact it was a choice of which bed spring to allow to stick in you next. The pillows and bed clothes were thin and old - as were the towels. The TV in my room had no signal, the light bulb was burnt out and I had to get a replacement. The kettle in my friend’s room was burnt out - but he was probably better off without it as the tea and coffee resembled warm mud. In fairness the shower did work well, as I was expecting it to just run cold. But it was warm and soothing. However the ‘Piece de resistance’ of the two night stay was the tendency of what seemed liked the entire town’s population to spend the night passing in and out the building, slamming and crashing the front door - immediately beneath our rooms. But this was nicely counter-pointed by the heavy traffic (mostly HGVs) passing by our antique sash windows throughout the night, as the rooms faced directly onto the High Street. Sleep? What sleep? This is why I suggest the venue is suitable only for murderers as, if you didn’t have an urge to kill someone before a stay at The Hampton, you certainly will after. And of course best of all we paid for the privilege of staying there. Finally, I’d suggest this hotel might encourage an undecided potential suicide to commit to their course of action.

Royal Welsh stay

1 night stay for the Royal Welsh show. Reasonably priced for the busiest week of the year in the area. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast could have been a bit more of generous portion also a bit disappointed there wasn’t a cot in the room even though we had booked stating it was with a 1 year old child!

room with no view

No parking of any size, pub users take the two places. on street available. Room large enough, bathroom OK. shower fine but spray head would not stay in place. Room was clean and tidy but the 'shower towel' was far too small. hot water in the morning, 06-30, was a scarce commodity. I did not take an evening meal but the early breakfast was really superb, good quality and as much as you could eat, very nice. drinks in the bar at standard prices.

Faulty towers without the humour, unhygienic and disgusting. Mould in shower, dirty bedding and curtains, carpet with blood stains . No parking facility. Hole in wall above bed. Could here every noise in the property due to being so out dated.
