This is a basic hotel. It was affordable and a 15 min walk from the bus station and the old town. We felt safe and the staff was very friendly. However, the breakfast was average (the coffee less than average). The biggest issue was not the hotels fault - construction in the area blocked the entrance and we had to go around. When we first arrived I was concerned that noise might be an issue as it is located right next to an emergency room with ambulances coming and going. However, Our room was off an inner court yard and very quiet. Overall, if you are looking for affordability, a clean room and don't mind a little bit of a walk to the main tourist area, this is a good value.

Hanneda & another young woman receptionist in the morning are very helpful & nice. The main tourist places to see are walkable from the hotel like the dragon bridge, funicular to the castle, etc.

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. An easy walk from bus and train station to the hotel. Everything is within walking distance, shops, restaurants, cafes, tourist sites and the river. Breakfast was very basic.

Budget hotel with room for improvement

Great AC, great location, quiet and 15 minute walk to bus and train station. Bed sheets had holes in it, shower head was broken and breakfast was only from 7:30 until 9:30 causing lineups and food quickly ran out before slowly replenished.

Staff were very nice and helpful! However, hotel gave us a broken room. Shower head holder was broken so we needed to hold the head while showering. One of the toilet flush buttons was also broken.

GREAT LOCATION. SUPERB STAFF. COMFORTABLE ROOM. The location couldn’t be better, no more than 15-20 minutes away from just about anywhere you’d need or want to go (including, but not limited to: the bus and train station the castle the cathedral main town square the important historic buildings, bridges, and statues The staff are helpful with any questions and are there to resolve any problems, efficiently and pleasantly. Everyone is very friendly. The rooms were comfortable and include a complimentary breakfast. I would definitely return here!

We had a great stay in Meksiko hotel. It’s walkable to the city centre as well as the central bus station. Supermarket is just around the corner. The rooms are spacious with lots of storage space. Great breakfast selection too. Would recommend to those who want to spend a few nights in Ljubljana.

Terrible experience at Meksiko

This hotel was a huge disappointment. The room I booked was supposed to have a queen bed, but instead, there were two single beds pushed together, which made sleeping very uncomfortable. The bathroom was another disaster—the glass partition wasn’t properly sealed, and the entire bathroom floor got flooded after just one shower. The reception closes at 9 PM, which is highly inconvenient. Cleanliness was also a major issue—there were stains on the bed sheets, and even blood stains on the blanket. The bathroom wasn’t properly cleaned either, with hair stuck to the walls and leftover shampoo from previous guests. On top of all that, the hotel is in a terrible location—right next to a hospital emergency entrance and an emergency helipad. The noise from helicopters and ambulances was constant, making it nearly impossible to relax or sleep. Hotel.com offered to move us to a "deluxe" room, but it wasn’t much of an improvement. The bathroom still leaked, and basic amenities were missing. The breakfast was underwhelming too, with limited and low-quality options. To make things worse, I wasn't even given a “Do Not Disturb” door hanger despite asking the reception for one. As a result, the cleaner came into the room while we were trying to rest. It wasn’t her fault—she wouldn’t have known without the sign—but this kind of basic mismanagement is unacceptable in a hotel. And housekeeping only includes changing towels and soap! Terrible experience overall!

It is close to the ethnographic museum, the national museum and museum of contemporary art, and not far from the main railway station, but slightly away from the tourist aria. Because it is next to the hospital it feels part of everyday life there. The staff members are friendly and super helpful. The name of the hotel derives from the meeting place associated with Maximilian in Mexico. It is great for a lone traveller as I was.
