AC not adequate, dirty linens, uncomfortable stay
Check in went ok and the host communicated with us regarding potential difficulty with the door lock. There are A LOT of unusual rules and things that have to be performed by us before the house could be used (you have to turn on water to house, water heater, AC,etc.). None of these things are in the listing, we received a message from the host a few days before our visit with a list of 25 things that would need to be done. I felt uncomfortable with the place before we got there, but we weren’t able to cancel last minute so we decided to give it a shot. It was definitely much more work than any other place I have rented.
One of the rules was that the AC could not be set below 78 and the thermostat was locked. The house was very hot and uncomfortable as it was 110 outside. There are several cameras on the inside of the house. The host does not pay for trash service so we were instructed to take all of our trash to the gas station. The showers had low flow nozzles which wasn’t that big of a deal, but a little inconvenient. It was nice that there was not a cleaning fee and we were able to just clean up after ourselves, but the people before us did not clean well and the house was not checked before we rented. One of the guests in our group took a shower and as they were drying off realized there was a poop mark on the towel!
The host was notified of all these issues, but didn’t seem to care much about our experience.
