Welcome to the Wheatley Lake House in Lake George

Welcome to our cozy little house in Lake George, Michigan. We hope you will love our little piece of paradise as much as we do. Although we are not on the lake, we are as close to Lake George without being on the lake. The primary bedroom is spacious with a king size bed. The second bedroom is small and unconventional but very functional with a full-size bed, its own half bath and houses the washer and dryer. The large foyer area can transform into a mini third bedroom with a single murphy bed. In a pinch there is also a rollaway bed in the primary bedroom closet. At the end of our street is a small neighborhood beach area with a bench where you can sit back and enjoy the scenery, go swimming, or do a little fishing. Around the corner is the public access boat launch for Lake George and there is another public boat launch with a beach / park a very short drive away at Shingle Lake. Our little downtown boasts the Swiss Inn which is our local bar / restaurant. The Depot, our convenience store, has awesome pizza and ice cream. We also have a Dollar General Market that carries most anything you may need. There are grocery stores in nearby Harrison and Clare. There is lots to see and do locally and within a short drive. Close by we have Living the Good Life Alpaca Farm, Snow Snake Ski & Golf, DNR trails, and Rocks and Valleys Off-Road Park. There are plenty of golf courses nearby. We have Eagle Glen in Farwell, Devil's Knob and The Tamaracks in Harrison and Gladwin Heights in Gladwin. Soaring Eagle Casino is also just a short drive away in Mount Pleasant. Also, not far from the casino is a great restaurant called Mountain Town Station. Gladwin is a short drive that has a great restaurant called the Riverwalk Grill in the Riverwalk Place resort and Spa. In the fall Gladwin also has a wonderful little cider mill called the Fruitful Orchard with cider, donuts and a wine tasting room. If you are a foodie, there are lots of great restaurants in Cadillac. Some of my favorites are Burke's Waterfront, Lakeside Charlies, and Dockside Inn. Our town is golf cart / side by side friendly, so bring your toys and boat to enjoy everything our lake has to offer. Our community has a few special events to enjoy. Among them are our community parades, our annual car show, 5 K walk, boat poker runs and side by side scrambles. Join one of our Facebook pages to see all of what is happening in our Lake George community. We now have in our little downtown area Lake George Boat & ATV Rental. They provide rentals of boats, paddle boards, kayaks, ATVs, golf carts, bikes, lily pads and more. So, come on out to Lake George and enjoy our little piece of paradise. Please be aware that this area is not known for good cell phone service.

Lake George Stay

What a cute little place. We loved how stocked everything was. When we first arrived there were snacks on the table. Toiletries of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and plenty of other things that one might forget were stocked. Laundry soap and dryer sheets stocked. In the kitchen is everything you need to prep and cook if needed. Lake George is beautiful and just a 1minute walk to water. It does not have much of a beach area, but that was ok because we were only ones there. We were able to get in water and shallow enough for my 6yr olds to play/swim. We rented a Lilly pad the first day and used in area. Second day we rented a boat and tube from Lake George boat,atv rental- great experience and fun time. Thanks for the stay and providing a great price for families.

Great house

First off the house is way better than what the pictures present online. She responds very quickly which is always appreciated. The house was very clean and very nice . tons of sleeping areas nice firepit very nice neighborhood right down the street is swimming or fishing and the beach is only 3 minutes away nice location really loved it would definitely stay there again next year. So if you're looking for a real nice place close to water for fishing and swimming activities and look no further the Wheatley house is awesome and I don't care to do to many reviews but this place really impressed me out of all the VRBO houses I stayed at over the years.

We went for a girl's weekend without a plan besides having where to stay. Well when we arrived and saw how beautiful and well-kept the house was, we didn't want to leave! The owner has the has COMPLETELY stocked with whatever you could think of, including toiletries, snacks and even supplies for a successful bonfire.. we spent 85% of our trip in the house! There was no need to go out except to pickup dinner (because we took food to make for breakfast and all the amenities were there for that too)!

Our group is an annual golf outing trip and play Eagle Glen and Snow Snake courses for the weekend. This house is only 15-20 away from both! Though the best part is working with Denise! She’s easy to work with and has always made our stays special. She remembers us from the previous year and wrote a kind person note and provided well needed snacks. She also looks at bookings in advance and allows you to check in early or check out late if she can accommodate it. 10/10 would recommend

Beautiful unplug!

We had everything we needed and more to be comfortable in a beautiful out of the way setting. We unplugged and My teenagers were creative, we took naps or roasted smores! we visited the alpacas, go carts, bowling and even had fun at Farwell historical museum meeting Linda and Alice. Everyone was so nice especially the host! Definitely one of our favorite!

WOW!!! Such an awesome place!

I would very highly recommend this beautiful cottage! It is very remote and adorable!!! Clean, great WiFi, awesome grill and less than a 2 minute walk to a nice little swimming area, there is also a beach nearby, a good bar with strong drinks, an alpaca farm that is free to visit, and it is so quiet! It was our anniversary and all we wanted was to relax, we got that and more! We will certainly be back!!!!

Overall very good I only wish the internet was better I work from home and my phone and laptop had bad reception, and there were no blankets other than the bedspread, and I didn’t feel comfortable sleeping with the bedspread Basic TV would be nice However the generator was awesome after the tornado Hit And we were very thankful it didn’t hit the cabin we were in

Comfortable week

This home is one of the more comfortable homes that we have rented. It is not large but it has everything we needed to have a comfortable stay. Just a few houses from Lake George and close to the boat launch. There is a cider mill about 40 minutes from the house. An Alpaca farm 5 minutes up the road. Casino is 30 minutes away. The house very clean and well stocked. We highly recommend it.

Amazing Lake George Stay

We had an outstanding time at our stay. We were in town for a wedding and the stay exceeded our expectations. Very close to the water where you can just jump in, amazing walks up the road. The house was amazing! Plenty of room and the kitchen had everything you need. Would recommend 10/10!!
