The property was exactly as pictured on Vrbo. Unfortunately the water isn’t as picturesque as most of the other parts of the island but we were able to drive to many of the other beaches. I would highly recommend this unit.

Lovely Beach View

Very well appointed and managed condo. Perfect location on the beach. Beautiful view from Lanai. My family of 4 loved our stay here and highly recommend.

Old but good location

If I could give a 3.5 I would. Here’s the rundown. 1. It’s old and a little outdated. If you don’t mind outdated furniture and carpet-ignore this part. The positive-all appliances seem new! Also, old doesn’t mean dirty! Everything was clean. 2. The patio has an air handler on it (not pictured). The very hot air and noise makes the patio nearly useless. BUT-without it the condo would be unbearably hot, so it is what it is. 3. Ants. I messaged the property manger about the situation and she said it’s a tropical area and just comes with being here. She prefers to not use harsh chemicals and the pest control company was just there. Well, spend 5 minutes in the kitchen and you’ll see that this is more than a small issue. We had ants on literally anything left on the counter. They are in the cabinets and drawers. Found them in our water bottles, my purse, I mean it when I say everywhere. Gross. Now, with that, we were only there 2 nights. There is no way the issue could have been fixed for us. The property manager was responsive and was in no way rude, and we are in an old building in a tropical environment. This is probably just a common issue, but is a big no for me. This is the reason for bumping to a 3 star instead of up to a 4. Overall-great location, affordable, well stocked, and responsive host. Just an old condo with some extra Hawaiian character.

Lovely—but maintenance issues

This is a lovely property. Beach is walkable but really need a car for grocery & dining out. Issues ( now resolved): We were confused getting in with code as we tried key box but needed to use touch screen. We arrived on a very hot day so needed AC. Unfortunately the unit in oceanfront bedroom was broken. We had 3 maintenance visits until repaired on our final day—thankfully it cooled off so couple in front bedroom only had one bad night. While AC was desired, and floor fan provided the second night, it was not relaxing to us to have to deal with on vacation. Also promised replacement of dining chair didn’t happen…not a big deal but more of a communication issue.

Insurance fraud

We had a great stay! This was our 10 visit to Menehune Shores and 1st in 519 as we needed a 2 bedroom…communication was great, very accurate add description, many amenities… We have great responses and reviews from our previous stays as we ALWAYS leave the unit as we receive it or sometimes better…we had a brief walkthrough with the cleaning lady, showed her that she had little to do and left her a generous tip… The carpet was older…it is an off white with dark threads marbled throughout…it had pre existing stains, not terrible, but visable and I understand as I have similar in my home… I received an email that the insurance protection I purchased was being used and charged for carpet cleaning…shouldn’t be a big deal as it wasn’t coming out of my pocket however insurance fraud doesn’t sit well with me nor should it anyone… The owner apologized and stated she had it steam cleaned the day before we checked in. Common knowledge, old stains WILL AND DO reappear after the carpet dries. The carpet was neither wet nor damp as we ALWAYS remove our shoes at the entry way… I am disappointed in her attempt at commuting insurance fraud for her own benefit and urge you caution when considering this unit as we know not the limit or lengths she’ll take to upgrade at the renters expense… Never again will we consider this unit. I have submitted proof and pictures to the insurance company, VRBO, and the property as warning.

Relaxing paradise!

We had the most wonderful stay! Condo is incredibly well stocked with everything we needed and then some. It is just as pictured and so comfortable. We spent a lot of time watching whales from the lanai. Close enough to everything we wanted to do- less than 10 min to south Kihei beaches, restaurants and shopping, 15 min to Wailea. 15 min to the harbor for boat/snorkel tours. The beach out front is gorgeous. We had the most incredible trip!!

Nice place in a great location

My wife, her mother and I stayed here for 6 nights. Nice place, free parking, great views of the ocean & beach. Lots of room for us, good air conditioning in the bedrooms. We would love to stay here again some day.

Great Place to Stay

The property was exactly like the photos. The host provided everything needed to easily check in and start enjoying the vacation. Property is located in a great location to access beautiful beaches, food, and other attractions. Would definitely stay again when visiting Maui.

feel like home..

Excellent property. Clean, quiet, and well prepared. Easy access to the beach. Nice ocean view. Perfect location - less than 20 minute drive to OGG airport. Easy access to retails and restaurants in Kihei. The host is great - very responsive. Will revisit if I come back to Maui.

Paradise

Beautiful condo with amazing views. We watched whales breach from the lanai. The property is well maintained and is centrally located, but quiet. The screen doors on the front of the unit allow you to keep the door open so the breeze flows from back to front of the unit.

Throw out all the broken appliances, get rid of at least one coffeemaker. Please have a working blender. Replace pillows with something less hard.

Beautiful condo

Beautifully updated and well appointed, comfortable condo. Views are amazing. We enjoyed the beach, swimming among turtles and tropical fish and watching people fish and kite surf. The location of the condo is great. Close to the elevator and views to the west. Communication was excellent too.

Lovely stay

My friends and I had a great stay at your unit. It is well maintained, clean, quiet and you obviously take pride in ownership. I would suggest a couple of things- a box of Kleenex tissues would be a simple and inexpensive addition, second, the front door probably could use some minor attention because it does not close on its own (you have to pull a bit to get it closed) and finally, you need to have a degree in rocket science to successfully operate the television, even with the printed instructions. I hasten to add that none of these things had any impact on our visit, just some casual observations that we noted. Otherwise, we were very pleased with our stay and would come back on another occasion assuming you would have us. Mahalo and aloha, Dennis Morrissey and Bob and Maggi Cathey.

Beautiful view of beach and clean, well stocked condo!

We thought the condo was beautiful and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay! We especially loved the views, and enjoyed them every moment we were there. It was super easy to book and access the condo. It was close to shopping and restaurants. The small beach adjacent was nice to enjoy one morning. We also loved having beach chairs and towels ready for us too. Thank you!

Maui Family Vacation

The beach and view are great but the condo needs to be upgraded, still in the 70s. It was a mix leading. The doors don’t close front and patio. We had to put cardboard in the corners of doors and windows because it make a lot of noise when the wind blew. Also, the kitchen had bucks, perhaps, the cleaning charge should be returned to me.

Slice of Heaven

This is our second stay at Menehue Shores and first in this condo. This was a family trip celebrating multiple retirements. Malinee was excellent as a property manager to communicate with and was able to meet all of our needs including arranging packages we provided in multiple condos. Mahalo Malinee. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking and a new dishwasher was installed while we were there. The views are a slice of heaven. We were able to walk the beach and snorkel daily. You will sea turtles daily in the King’s Bath, and we were lucky enough to see a monk seal resting in the bath. That was a first! The air conditioning works amazingly. You need to make sure the lanai sliding doors and windows are shut tight or it won’t turn on. Our first half of the stay are family members preferred it, but the last part of our stay we opened everything wide open and listened to the ocean at night. The trade winds were stronger then we remember this time around. Great for sitting on lanai and no need for air, not so great for snorkeling. I recommend getting out early to snorkel. Snorkeling with white caps is not recommended. We love the feel of Kihei, a little less touristy. I recommend a trip to the ABC store, and farmer’s market on your way to Menehue Shores on Kihei Rd. On the way in from airport. There is also a bakery and Shave ice in that same little area. We stopped at Costco in Kahului for meat and other items. The only negative is the coffee pot. It is difficult to fill and leaks when you pour. A simple Mr. Coffee would be a better investment. Otherwise this condo was top notch and we definitely would stay here again! Mahalo! Recommendations: Calypso Snorkeling tour to Molokini and Turtle Town. Road to Hana via a tour. Haleakala at Sunrise followed by biking down. IAO Valley for a beautiful morning hike. Old Royal Lahaina Luau was a first this year and well worth it. Although Feast of LeLe was good too. If you want to book Mama’s Fish House book it 6 months or more out. We regret not doing that! Paia is an adorable town for shopping and Milagro’s for drinks and Mexican food. Baldwin Beach is a nice beach there. Check out Moose McGillicuddies for drinks and appetizers at sunset. Great views.
