Tawaraya - Big Roof House - A nostalgic old house that makes you feel at home, just like your grandma's house.

This is a traditional Japanese house that’s over 150 years old.
The theme of this house is “Grandma’s House”—it’s nostalgic and soothing.
We wanted to create a space like that, so we renovated this traditional house entirely by hand.

We didn’t use any modern building materials; instead, we reused as much of the original wood from the house as possible during the renovation.
It’s by no means a sparkling, pristine, or luxurious place, but
it’s a space that lets your heart relax and unwind.

OMOYA features two traditional storehouses on the grounds, whose exteriors retain their historic charm.
The view from the bedrooms, offering a panoramic vista of Japan’s unspoiled countryside, is truly breathtaking.
Four traditional Japanese-style rooms and one room featuring a traditional Japanese-style room with a raised floor area are available for use as bedrooms.

The living-dining area features a large dining table made of solid wood and a sunken kotatsu,
allowing even large groups to enjoy mealtimes together.

You are free to use anything within reach.
