We stayed at the Mermaid Beach Hotel over the Christmas period. Jude our host was wonderful and I cannot speak more highly of her. However, we were very disappointed with the property itself. We booked this hotel as it was advertised that it included a beachside restaurant and bar. However, this was not the case and the hotel restaurant and bar was shut the entirety of our stay (except for when they opened for a private corporate Christmas party that went until 2am). Carriacou completely shuts down over Christmas for 4 days so we had limited access to food. It would have been nice for the owners to contact us so that we could have made alternate arrangements over the holiday period.
We also advised the hotel through Expedia that we would be arriving for a late check in, however we never heard back from the hotel and then found out the property had been taken off expedia for future bookings. When we arrived late at night the hotel was completly shut up, and we had to make alternate accomodation arrangements which was an additional out of pocket expense.
Jude was amazing and has been with the hotel for years, however the owners need to take more care when booking guests into their property.
