Pumpkin House Summary
Summary: Luxurious 1 bedroom home nestled among redwoods, across street from Russian River. Quiet street of single family homes, a relaxing get-away from city hubbub for a person or couple. Additional guests can be accommodated on couch.
Need more Space - See our Profile for links to our larger and homes up the street!
The Space: Historically a ground level summer cabin, when raised above the 100 hundred year flood level some 15 years ago this cabin was extensively upgraded: recessed lighting in most areas, skylights, a bathroom with extravagant tub (perfect for an intimate soak?! ) and stand-alone shower stall.
The modern kitchen is well-equipped for cooking, though hosting a dinner for 6 adults would be the comfortable limit in this the compact home. It features stainless appliances: refrigerator is full size with bottom freezer; dishwasher has independently operated upper and lower chambers; propane fuels the instant delivery hot water heater, range with self-clean oven, both fireplaces and outside deck placed BBQ.
Privacy-fenced front yard is nicely trimmed, shaded by surrounding Redwood grove.
See our Profile for links to our other homes up the street!
Guest Access: Yours for your stay are the house, driveway and grounds, which are privacy fenced and so, secure for your pet(s), though leaving them un-supervised can sometimes result in noise nuisance to neighbors - we discourage leaving pets outdoors while you are not present.
John and Eric, your hosts, retain access via the driveway at all times to the ground floor garage and related spaces.
Guests retain sole possession of the fenced in area and raised home/hot tub.
The Neighborhood: The cottage is 100 yards from beaches, and just over a mile from downtown Guerneville. It’s a short drive to wineries, and to Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve with its grand, peaceful, cathedral-like valley floor.
Getting Around: Cab service is available, though a call will likely be required: *Bill's Taxi - 1 (707) 869-2177), www.billstaxiservices.com/; * Monte Rio Taxi - 1 (707) 849-6802; https://www.monterio-taxi.com/ Sonoma County Transit bus service originates in Santa Rosa (~ 20 miles east) come through, though infrequently.
Other Things to Note: PETS: While we are happy to share our home with family pets, we ask they do not sleep on the beds as fur becomes a significant issue for cleaning the sheets and duvet covers.
PLEASE NOTE A $50 PET CLEANING FEE will be requested when pets hair adds significantly to the cleaning of our homes.
Our neighbors are very sensitive to noise: your party is encouraged to enjoy a dinner party, but boisterous noise will prompt their ire. Should your definition of "boisterous noise" differ from theirs your hosts will agree with our reasonable neighbors (they understand ours is a resort town, reliant on the goodwill of its vacationing guests). Downtown is nearby, available and suitable for "PARTY HARDY ! " ;-))
Interaction with Guests: Our home is three doors away, but we travel for long periods.
Guests receive self check-in instructions upon booking.
The physical layout ensures that, even when hosts access their on-property storage, guests' privacy is secure.
The cottage is heated and features a kitchen and a balcony, and there's space to spread out with a separate bedroom. Other standard amenities include a fireplace, a coffee maker, and an ironing board.

Perfect getaway
We stayed 4 nights in the Pumpkin House. So many positives for us! The location was perfect. Close to town but not walkable due to the road isn’t safe to walk on. Quick drive. River is literally behind the house across the road. Two beaches right in the neighborhood. Your own private parking place. Feels safe. We had our kayaks, no problems. The HOUSE is updated and lovely. Lots of natural light surrounded by redwoods. Kitchen is perfect for prepping food and cooking. The deck is comfy, we played games out there. The soaking tub is amazing and huge. More than enough room for 2. The house is very clean and well maintained. Our dog loved the yard. It’s a pretty garden. We will return!!
We were able to get to the Pumpkin House in the daytime & totally recommend doing so! The key and entering wasEZ & exactly as stated. We loved the fenced yard for our dog. The house isn’t new and fancy but warm and inviting. Cozy beds, snuggly throws, great gas fireplaces, new appliances, a rain shower head, large soaking tub, simple spices, French press, coffee grinder and a bag of great local coffee
to enjoy. We NEVER HEARD A SINGLE CAR! No road noise, just peace amongst the redwoods! The river is across the street and a few steps away.
All in all, we had the get away we so needed! Loved it and hope to be back. Thanks for sharing your Pumpkin House with us!
beans to enjoy.

Hidden gem!
I recently had the most wonderful stay at Pumpkin House on the Russian River in Guerneville, and it was truly a fantastic experience! Nestled among the trees, the cabin offers stunning views of the redwoods, making it the perfect retreat. My dog absolutely loved the outdoor space and the private yard. While it’s just a short drive from everything, it feels wonderfully secluded from the hustle and bustle of Highway 116. Plus, the river is just a quick walk across the road.
The cabin was impeccably clean and well-equipped, providing everything needed for a comfortable stay. The hosts clearly thought of every detail to ensure guests have a great experience. On my last day, I was lucky enough to meet one of the hosts, Eric, who was incredibly friendly and even gave me a tour of his studio—such a special treat! I highly recommend the Pumpkin Cabin for anyone seeking a peaceful getaway, especially if you’re bringing your furry friend along!
This space was great for my husband, 6 year old daughter and me. We stayed here for the long Thanksgiving weekend. Eric was quick to communicate. The location was just south of the river (walkable to the river) and a quick car ride away from downtown Guerneville where the restaurants and shops are. The house was surrounded by tall trees, a fence and there is off street parking. So I felt safe here in spite of the pitch darkness. We hit almost every attraction suggestion in their binder - the Armstrong Redwoods, Goats Rock beach, Duncan Mills and had a memorable time. It's a beautiful location.
Although it was a 1 bedroom house, we had plenty of space. We brought an air mattress and sleeping bag for our daughter to sleep in the living room. As this is a pet friendly space, our daughter's allergies flared up. So if you're similarly allergic, be sure to bring your allergy medicine. We could not figure out the bedroom fireplace or the AppleTV but the living room heater and TV kept us comfortable. Sufficient bedding but glad we brought the sleeping bag as we wouldn't have had an extra blanket for our daughter. The hot tub under the trees was a relaxing way to spend the afternoon after a hike in the Redwoods. The huge jacuzzi tub under the skylight framed tall trees was equally relaxing. There were exactly 3 sets of towels and 2 beach towels. They had costco-sized shampoo, conditioner, body wash and provided tp and pt. The kitchen suited our needs for cooking / heating up food for the holiday: pyrex and great nonstick pots/pans, a french press and coffee maker, toaster, blender.
Thankful we found this house and made some great Thanksgiving memories here!
