Grefrath is surrounded by greenery, in the wonderful Schwalm-Nette nature park. With its dense forests, floodplains, heathlands and lakes, it offers perfect opportunities for canoeing, cycling and hiking tours.
13 designated hiking trails alone lead over 70 km through the Niersauen.

With over 8000 square meters of ice (hall, roofed outer field, outer ring), the Grefrather EisSport & EventPark is one of the largest artificial ice offers in Europe. It offers events in rock & pop, hits, shows & musicals, fairs & exhibitions, sports events, horse events, comedy and the ice revue "Holidy on Ice" every year.

Here you will also find the Lower Rhine Open-Air Museum including Dorenburg, a baroque noble residence from the 14th century. At the end of November / beginning of December there is a “romantic Christmas market”; the folklore museum presents attractive temporary exhibitions and events; the toy collection shows toys from 3 centuries on 3 floors.
