Staff was unbelievable!!! Food was great.
This place may not be a success without the present staff. Dog sled girl was amazing. Snow mobile girl was from Hawaii. The restaurant manager was hands on and just never stopped!
So corporate if you read this make sure you treat this staff. Oh the aurora was awesome too.
Thanks for an unforgettable trip
The facility was great, the staff took great care of us. The food at Latitude 65 was amazing! Only thing keeping it from being a 5 for us was not seeing the Northern Lights.... the whole purpose for our visit.
Staff was very responsive. There was a problem with our hot water, and they had it fixed within an hour.
The heaters for each igloo are pretty loud. We found it helpful to sleep with ear plugs. The high air movement might be necessary to keep those giant windows to the sky clear!
Such a beautiful and unique stay!
We went for a 3 night stay in late August - early September. I really loved the glass ceiling design of the igloos but the floor was really dusty and dirty, it feels like housekeeping never really vacuum the floor.
Service wise was great, the staff were polite and all but i have to ding them for forgetting to change my return shuttle to the airport. I told front desk the morning before my checkout day that I would like the shuttle to pick me up one hour later. At the end of the day i checked back in with front desk again just to make sure they relayed my wishes, but realized that my shuttle pick up timing was not changed and it was too late already to change it.
I must give them extra points though for the special service rendered to me for sending a buggy to pick me and my wife up from the igloo on check out day because it was raining and we did not want to walk all the way back to front desk in the rain and through all the mud. Really appreciate the ride, thank you for an unforgettable experience!
It was great experience even though it was too cloudy so we didn’t see start sky or aurora lights. Stunning view of mountains and forest. Extraordinary architect style. They are like planet or spaceship! My son likes it immediately! The food in the restaurant was good. There are lots of activities to offer too! A few things for improvement: 1) the heater was too loud; 2) the sanitary countertop could be bigger; 3) the hair dryer could be nicer
This is truly an experience! The Igloo was an amazing stay and we got to see snow and the most spectacular aurora in Oct! Words cannot say how lucky my family felt as we got this amazing experience. The staff were helpful and friendly, especially Marina and Ryan. The food was wonderful and the cocktails were delicious...Thanks Decker! We drove up to the camp and it was steep so if you do not feel experienced driving in snow with snow tires/chains... take the shuttle. While it is not free for expedia booked lodging- it is still a good deal for peace of mind. The facilities were just wonderful, warm showers, beautiful views, relaxing trails and exciting activities. we booked the UTV and the sunset experiences which we fun for our family. We are hooked on snowy, aurora adventures and I plan to return with my extended family!
Amazing! Best place to see the Auroras. Their igloos are really comfortable and warm. They even provide an alarm in the igloo to wake you up when the Auroras appear, which makes it really convenient so your not waiting up. The restaurant has really great 5 star food, best fish tacos we have ever had! Several activities you can do on the grounds. I definitely want to go back!
I am so grateful for providing the most incredible experience of my life. Amazing resort, amazing view, amazing activities and amazing food in their restaurant. I am absolutely in love!!
The bed was smaller than twin, so we combined them together with the stripe they provided and it worked great! The comforter was cozy, warm and light. I liked it very much. They have a counter but you can't cook there, you can pre-order meals with front desk. They woke you up with an alarm if they saw the aurora. We were there only two nights and saw the aurora twice. One even dancing around. But only green color under the camera. However, the sunset, moonset, the stars...OMG! You got to live here once in the winter in your lifetime.
Staying in the Igloos was a unique and wonderful experience. The excursions were fun and went well. We enjoyed going to the Artic Circle, Reindeer meet & greet, Snow machining, and Dog sledding. The staff was outstanding and the restaurant was wonderful too. We did see the Northern Lights on the last evening, so that was the highlight of the trip. However, we all agreed that if we didn't see the Northern Lights that the trip would have still been 5 Stars!
Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The igloos offer a great way to view the aurora without freezing outside for hours. The bed & pillows were comfortable. The unit was clean. Aurora viewing was great. We had a few nights when they were visible & 1 night where they were excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful. Wifi was good. Lounge area nice.
On the downside, there are a few things I'd recommend: lower dining room prices. Better breakfast based on the price of the unit. There was no place to unpack our clothes. A small dresser or shelved closet would be nice and helpful. We had a fridge, but it was not in the kitchenette area. It was on the other side of the room even though there is space for it under the kitchen counter. There was on chair and no place to sit for a game of cards or similar. They provided an electric kettle & tea/instant coffee, but the cups were tiny (maybe 4 oz) and awkward to handle. There's a sink in the kitchenette, but no dish soap or towel or anything to wash your items with.
These are somewhat picky things, but at the same time we are paying a significant price for these units to find they not well equipped.
Borealis Basecamp is not close to any dining and only a few local activities. If you're eating in the dining room, the prices seemed high to us. If not in the dining room, then it's about 40 minutes to Fairbanks.
We visited when there was no snow, so snowmobiling, dog sledding, etc. were not an option.
I'd recommend with these few cavaets.
What an unbelievable and once in a life time experience. Majestic Aurora Borealis and star viewing from the comfort of your igloo. Very friendly and accommodating staff.
