Historic home with tons of character

This home was large enough for two families and only a few blocks from the water and quaint shopping. Beds are comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Fun family getaway.

Very roomy for three families. Period furnishings were fun. Very clean and well stocked kitchen. A few areas were in need of replacement or repair, otherwise would be 5 stars.

Historical Stay

It was awesome staying in a historical house. Everything was great, plenty of towels for all eight of us. Had a great time. We will definitely be back next year if it’s available.

Beautiful Historic Home

This beautiful historic home is a treat to stay in! We have wonderful family vacation memories all inside this sweet home. The kids loved the pool too. We look forward to returning!

Mathis House is great.

Excellent stay for a family of 8-9. Plenty of comfy beds and lots of room. This is our third stay at this home. We love our visits to Rockport and the Mathis house.

Great place!

We had such a great time at this house. We really enjoyed being walking distance to downtown area. Great family time together and room to spread out. Highly recommend.

Lovely, historical home!

Modern touches on a historical home, close to the Rockport strip! Plenty of comfy beds, lovely linens! The pool is a treat. The process to book and access was seamless. Take the basics if you plan to cook!

Absolutely loved staying here! The fact that it is a historical home makes the stay so special. The rooms are large and pair well with the history of the house. The pool is a great bonus, but there are no rails or anything to assist with getting in and out. I know the house is old, but the stairs leading to the house are extremely worn. The wood is rotted and the one of the hand rails was about to collapse. Regardless of all that, we had a great time and would love to visit again.

Summer vacation 2024

This was our first visit to Rockport it was amazing! The house was beautiful and very comforting! Everything we needed was provided! Family enjoyed the pool in the evenings! Rooms were very spacious and beds comfortable! Loved it!!! Highly recommend!! Will definitely be returning!!

Beautiful old house

Wonderful historic home in heart of Rockport. Large fenced yard and sparkling pool. Kitchen is well outfitted and big dinning table is great for gathering to eat or play board games. (There are some good games provided.) Limited comfy seating indoors, but great outdoor furniture.

Mathis house

This was our second stay here. It was as good as the first. Beds are comfortable, air conditioner works great. Kitchen is well equipped. Only complaint is there are no hot pad holders and only one dish towel that we could find.

Stay in a piece of History

It was a cool but quirky historical home to stay in. What was quirky; the hot and cold faucets were on opposite sides of some sinks. If you like staying in an old historical houses this is a fun one. Loved all the history inside. However, some negatives on our particular trip. The pool was green when we first arrived. The pool guy came shortly after us and noted that it looked like the family before us allowed a dog to swim in the pool. So it was a bummer not to enjoy the pool the first night. However, by the next evening the pool was fine. The only other downside outside is the ants. There were tons of ants everywhere. Could not enjoy sitting on the deck by the pool due to ants. As far as safety, the smoke detectors were not installed where they should be. One started beeping as the battery needed to be installed. It was laying on a table in the room my son stayed in and he took the battery out so he could sleep. The doors were difficult to open for my daughter. So with smoke detectors not properly placed, and if there was a fire it would have been difficult for her to get out. There was also a nail sticking up in the tv room floor. I could not locate anything to hammer it down so moved a chair over it. Only other thing to note for check in, is there is a lock box to a key to the laundry room below the house. But there was no lock on the door. Just walk right in to under the house.

The yellow house is vast! The ceilings are so tall. I loved the decor, old & unique. Due to the height of the bedroom ceilings, I suggest closing the kitchen vent while sleeping. It is walking distance to the kid friendly ocean with picnic tables, grills & tiki cabanas, though driving was preferred in the hot heat. The small pool in the backyard was a wonderful addition. We lived in it. There are sections of the beach that are dog friendly. I even met 2 cats on a leash! The HEB had good groceries & the kitchen had just about everything we needed. For the best breakfast tacos visit Rositas. It is worth the wait!!

The Gem of Rockport.

We stayed for about a week. We really enjoys the history of this home. The home was well stocked for cooking, linens, and paper goods. We really didn’t want to leave. The pool looks small but I was perfect for us. The street was nice abs quiet during the day and night. Being able to have our dogs with us at the dog friendly rental was a huge plus. There are some things to note. We are a family of three people. If there was more of us there would be no real comfortable place to sit and enjoy the living room. We never got the tv to work even though we have the same set up at home. It was okay for us because we took it as a sign to not watch anything for the week. The pictures that advertise this property are dated. Three room that show pretty vintage wall paper are white wooden walls now. That was okay for us. The property is beautifully fenced but keep in mind it’s and old antique fence and if you have a small dog it could get out.
