The house itself is an older beach house- no problems there as the house is in good shape. The open kitchen, dining, and great room is nice. Fully equipped kitchen, including blender, crockpot, large steamer pot, George Foreman grill, electric griddle, dishwasher, plenty of flatware, drink ware and plates.
The pool is kept up and a nice salt water pool. It could definitely use new chairs around the pool area.
I gave it a lower score on cleanliness b/c the renters, upon leaving, are asked to sweep and vacuum, have all plates, kitchenware clean and in cabinets. When we checked in the floors weren’t clean in the basement and trash left under beds, and some unclean dishes in cabinets. I believe this is due to the shortage of cleaning personnel in the area. The sheets are on the beds, but you have to rent your towels and let them know before you arrive to have them at the house.
The house is within walking distance to the beach. As with any house in the northern section of the Outer Banks the sand dunes are really tall and therefore the boardwalk over them requires a lot of steps. Not good at all for handicapped people. But there is beach access a mile or two south that is more handicapped accessible.
I mistook the house having an ocean view, but Oceanside doesn’t mean ocean view.
All in all the house was good. Just wouldn’t stay again b/c there was no ocean view, I thought it was pricey due to that.
Hope this helps.
