Glacier Cabin is a two story, hand built log cabin on our 320 acre working Alaskan homestead. The cabin features two private bedrooms with queen beds, one upstairs and one downstairs, along with electricity, hot water, and two bathrooms. One bathroom includes a shower, while the other has a bathtub. The main level includes a small sitting area, table for four, and a simple desk.
This is a working homestead. During your stay you will likely see chickens, turkeys, farm equipment, and our free roaming dogs around the property. You may also encounter ongoing maintenance, restoration projects, haying, or other normal homestead activities. If you are looking for a quiet rural Alaska experience, you'll fit right in. If you are expecting a resort environment, this may not be the best fit.
Wrangell Mountain Homestead was built in the 1970s using timber milled on site. After sitting empty for many years, our family is restoring the property one step at a time. Some buildings and areas remain rustic, weathered, or unfinished as part of that ongoing work.
There is no TV or city noise here, just forest views, fresh air, wildlife, and plenty of room to unplug. Guests are welcome to enjoy the property, though some buildings, work areas, and restoration projects are private.
We are located in a remote part of Alaska, approximately 30 minutes from Chitina, 1 hour from Glennallen, 1 hour 45 minutes from Valdez, and 2.5 hours from Kennicott.
If you're looking for an authentic Alaskan homestead experience with history, character, and wide open spaces, Glacier Cabin is the perfect place to stay.
