Arrived 8:50 pm and left really early in the morning. Reception closes at 8:00~8:30 pm. So could not see any staff. Had to leave the key in a box. Parking was on the driveway in open space. Nothing great but nothing to complain about. The building is old but the renovation inside was good. One thing I was annoyed about was the lack of a desk or proper table where I could do some work with my laption. There was a small round shaped table which was too small.

A beautiful room with a nice comfortable bed and a spacious, well-appointed bathroom. We enjoyed our stay. The areas where I have given less stars were because there was no one at reception when we arrived and I had to go and find someone to check in, and because I was concerned about the condition of the windows - there is mould around the frames and on the upper windows and they need a good clean. Our room was on the south side so I understand why this is an issue, but it just needs a bit more care.

Room was much smaller than anticipated. Lots of 'modern' controls for heating/cooling etc - but no actual instructions on how to use them...not all of us are computer savvy. Breakfasts - not too bad - the one evening meal we had - the vegetables were basically raw and lukewarm - the chicken roulade was dry, overcooked & not very tasty. (And I was a chef in my younger days!) The property overall - could have been a completely different place from the 'appearance' on the website!

Stay in Wigram Hotel

Hotel was a previous Air force officers club and is furbished to a very high standard. Bathroom huge and included a bath as well as shower. Breakfast included which was a fixed menu and was very good. Only one free drink with breakfast which was a bit odd but freshly made . Parking not a problem but hotel a fair way out of main town, not walkable, so Uber used in daytime and own car used at night when parking in town free. Nowhere to walk local to hotel nor eating places. so had to drive into Christchurch. This was the only issue with what was a very nice hotel
