Villa Amalia is a beautiful property. Carlo and Antonella (the owners and hosts of the property) are very gracious, kind a truly accommodating in every possible way.
Unique villa with fascinating history and artwork. Hosts were very attentive and responsive to all our needs. The location is a distance from town, but Cava is charming. You will experience the local Italian culture here where every local person was helpful and friendly despite not knowing English. We had many laughs trying to communicate which made the experience even richer. Cava has many quaint cafes and lots of shopping, however beware of siestas and plan accordingly. After wrestling with the crowds in larger more popular towns it was refreshing to come home to the quiet villa, jump in the pool and enjoy stunning scenery. It was a delight to arrive to a homemade authentic Italian feast!
We were made to feel very welcome by Carlo and his family, nothing was too much trouble. We really appreciated Carlo’s recommendations & advice with taxis and excursions. The villa is amazing, like living in a fairytale! Carlo and his family cooked beautiful meals for us and made us feel like part of the family. Thanks so much to you all!
Spacious interesting property with good facilities and friendly hosts
We spent a happy week here with 8 young adult children and their partners. The hosts are a professional couple with baby living next door, very friendly and easily available for help and advice if needed. They got us making and cooking fresh past which was fun. The property is characterful with lots of paintings and artefacts, and lots of indoor and outdoor space. The pool is lovely. The poole table (downstairs in the cellar area - good hideout) and table football (by the pool) are in good condition, the piano is slightly out of tune (if thats important to you!). The downstairs bedroom is a sofabed and the extra two beds we didnt use were singles, behind a curtain so probably best for children really.

Wonderful Villa Amalia
Ah! The Villa Amalia. What a wonderful place to call “home” on our visit to the Amalfi Coast! The villa is large and spacious offering unique spaces to allow for large groups to spread out in comfort. In every way, the villa lived up to our expectations. What you see on the internet is what you will find upon your arrival. I also cannot say enough about Antonio, our gracious host. We were there as part of an ancestral journey and Antonio’s effort to assist us was incredible. Without asking, he went far beyond what one would expect with the result that we were successful in our quest. We can never thank him enough. If you are planning a trip to the Amalfi Coast, I strongly recommend the Villa Amalia!
We received a warm and informative welcome from Carlo upon our arrival at Villa Amalia and he continued to assist us throughout our stay with any queries or issues we had. The villa has a lovely pool, a hot tub, a pool table and sauna and is ideal for a large group. There are plenty of bedrooms with en suite facilities and some lovely terraces and views from some of these. I feel it was more suitable for 10 people rather than 11 or 12, as the extra bed was a sofa bed in a curtained off space that had no air conditioning. We had to use a mosquito net for that bed but Carlo thankfully provided us with a fan. The kitchen was well equipped for making meals and there were some essential provisions left for us on arrival, as well as some delicious sweet treats on several occasions during our stay, which were very welcome and much appreciated. There is a bus stop right outside the gates and tickets can be bought from a tiny shop opposite. It is a 20 minute walk downhill into the town of Cava de Tirreni, slightly longer going back uphill! The town has some great places for coffee, pastries and aperitifs and comes alive in the evenings and the weekends. We had no cars but found getting to Pompeii, Salerno and the Amalfi coast pretty straightforward using buses, trains and taxis. Carlo was very helpful with any transport advice, putting us in touch with Paulo who sorted our taxi transport from the train station and our airport transfer. The Ferrari rides were a bonus!
We could not have been more pleased with our week stay at Villa Amalia in Cava de’ Tirreni. When we arrived at the villa we were amazed at the beauty, tranquility and gorgeous gardens. What you see in the pictures is absolutely what is waiting for you.
We were met by Antonio and his son Carlo which both live close by. They showed us around the amazing villa and answered all of our questions. They could not have been any more helpful during our entire stay. We also were lucky to meet Antonella Carlo’s girlfriend and the namesake of the property Amalia who made us some amazing food during our stay.
We had 6 family members meet us there for the last 4 days. I cannot tell you the unforgettable memories that we all made at the villa. We hired the sailboat for a day, sailed the Amalfi coast, ate lunch in Positano and had so much fun. We took another day trip by ferry from Salerno to Capri stopping in Sorrento on the way back. The center of Cava has great shops and we all had our favorite meal there out of all the places we ate it was hands down the most authentic. The restaurant name is Ristorante Don Giulio e Masaniello. We enjoyed the time spent on our day trips but the most joy we had was the peacefulness and relaxation at the villa with great food, wine, pool and laughs.
This villa has so much history along with all of the modern amenities needed. The bedrooms each have wonderful air conditioners that work very well.
We will definitely be returning to the villa for future trips.
We extend our many thanks and appreciation to Antonio, Amalia, Carlo, Antonella and Placedo which takes care of the property so well. We look forward to seeing you all again!!

A fabulous holiday
I stayed in the beautiful Villa Amalia for two weeks with my family and with the families of my two sisters. We were 14, including my 86-year-old mother, unfortunately in a wheelchair. I would like to say immediately that the villa is more beautiful than you can see in the photos published and the external and internal spaces are larger than you can imagine from the photos. We had four cars inside the villa and added a minibus when visiting my brother who lives in Salerno, 10 minutes drive from the villa. The swimming pool completely covered in white marble is splendid and is very large. We all, including my brother's family, were free to swim together without space problems. The owner Antonio was always very kind and always available to our every request. Placido, the handyman man was truly exceptional, he every morning at 7:00 he took care with discretion of cleaning all the outdoor spaces of the tropical garden and the pool. Everything was always perfectly tidy and clean. We were surprised by the antique furniture, the important art gallery and above all by the extravagant idea to put in all the bathrooms of important ancient works of art. The kitchen is of very modern conception, designed by Antonio in the 90s. It has the shape of a circumference open to one side, so that the operator in the middle has everything at hand. Villa Amalia enjoys breathtaking views. It is located in the center of all the most important tourist destinations and is just 10 minutes drive from the most beautiful beaches of the Amalfi Coast. Next to the entrance gate there is a small market very well stocked with all basic necessities, cigarettes and spirits. Every morning we bought fresh bread and everything we needed for breakfast. There is also a public bus stop every 45 minutes. The villa is a 15-minute walk from the city center of Cava where there are hundreds of restaurants, bars, nightclubs and shops that cheer the streets full of people with lights and music throughout the night. In the evening the Villa Amalia with all the lights on, takes on a fantastically luxurious appearance. I can not describe the beauty of the pool lights that are reflected in a shaky way on all the outdoor spaces and in the beautiful bedroom that overlooks the pool. I will certainly recommend this exceptional villa to all my friends and I thank Antonio with all my relatives for giving us the chance to live a fairy tale

A nice vacantion in a wonderful city
We had a enjoyable vacantion in Cava de' Tirreni. The area is perfect for daytrips to Amalfi Coast, Salerno, Neaples or Pompei. There's a Strada Statale that links the city to Costiera Amalfitana in a 10 minutes drive. A highway is very close, for longer trips.
If sunbathing or relaxing by the pool is your thing, the villa is quiet, clean and filled with antiques. The swimming pool is cleaned daily.
There are four bedrooms on the upper floor, the beds were particullary nice ( I can't remember since I slept so good ) and a nice terrace with a astonishing view of the sea.
The only thing that we didn't liked was the satellite receiver, with only CNN, NBC and BBC to watch. It was the second week at the US Open and we weren't able to see anything.

Great views, great pool
The views from villa are amazing. The pool area is fantastic, large pool, plenty of outside space, cleaned daily.
Villa itself very interesting with its history. We used the 4 main bedrooms upstairs. Beds were comfy. We generally left the shutters open at night although there were also air con units in these bedrooms. Could have done with a few more tables in the bedrooms but wardrobe space was good.
António or staff were on site each day and very keen to ensure we had a good stay.
Only problem we had was the Mosquitos, remember repellent.

Wonderful villa for Amafi Coast Family Vacation
Upon driving through the gated entrance you are comforted that the villa is nearly exactly as advertised. Beautiful pool and patio...we spent nearly all our "home" time here, modern bathrooms and traditional Italian bedrooms. Certainly a feel of luxury coupled with an owner and assistant who were committed to making us feel at home. Our family of fourteen cooked most of our evening meals in the modern kitchen and we enjoyed the excellent wine provided by Antonio. The winding, narrow road was a bit of a challenge the first day, but we quickly became experts and most of our days sightseeing. Upon returning to the villa, the children couldn't wait to jump in the marble pool while we adults sat under the vine covered trellis enjoying our wine. Just outside the gate was a small store that offered fresh bread daily and several other "essentials. Beds were comfortable, linens were fresh and our stay was outstanding...we already are discussing a return visit.

Great villa in a brilliant location for the rest of the Amalfi Coast. Very warm welcome received from Antonio and his family which was marked by a welcome package as well as an Italian home cooked meal on Day 2!Antonio was an excellent host and despite all our questions, he was quite happy to accommodate us.Kids did not want to leave the pool and we only wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy all the amenities! Villa Amelia with its stunning views and luxurious comfort.
Villa Amelia exceeded all our expectations! From the moment we arrived we felt at home having been warmly greeted by our gracious host Antonio who had also provided a generous welcome pack of wine and local produce.
Although 12 of us in our group, we never felt crowded as the Villa has ample space, plenty of bedrooms plus games room and huge well maintained pool with diving board. The Villa is beautifully furnished with interesting nooks, antiques, ample outdoor dining and also quiet places to sip an early morning coffee whilst surveying panoramic views overlooking the sea and local village. The Villa is perfectly situated for touring the Amalfi coast and local places of interest. Cava de Tirreni, the local town, has the perfect mix of superb shops, really good restaurants and supermarkets.
What a wonderful surprise on our last evening, we were given a wonderful authentic Italian meal by our hosts lovely wife...delicious!
Our only wish was that we had booked for longer and we will definitely be back!

Beautiful villa, stunning pool
I stayed here with a group of 11 friends and couldn't have asked for a better welcome. Before we even arrived, the email correspondence was quick, accurate and the description of the villa spot on.
When we finally arrived Italian cured meats, bread, cheese and red wine greeted us on the kitchen table to eat after our long journey from London. We were greeted warmly and given a tour around this beautiful and spacious villa. The pool is amazing! A real highlight of the place. The villa has more than enough room to accommodate 12 adults and you could even squeeze children in comfortably as the room are a good size.
I would advise a rental car. It's a perfect base to explore the almafi coast without the fuss of the Almafi traffic on your door step (the roads get very crowded and traffic awful in the summer) but the location definitely needed a car. We were lucky to avoid the traffic every day as we were a little further out, which my party liked. We explored Almafi, Positano, Sorrento and some did the walk of the gods. Some of my group took the train, with ease, to Pompei. Others stayed in the villa and enjoyed the pool. It really is a stunning part of Italy.
Antonio and James, will help arrange anything you need. Pizza's delivered to the villa and an Italian cell phone in case you get into difficulty with mobile numbers on it. We needed a taxi transfer to a wedding in Sorrento which was gratefully arranged without fuss. Thank you.
Overall, a fantastic villa for a group of close friends but would equally suit a group of families too. Lots of space (including a pool table, table football) and lots of chairs/tables outside to eat. Plus, towels to use. We ate breakfast outside everyday and the evenings we cooked in, ate by the table by the pool (the pool lights up at night). The kitchen comes well stocked with lots of plates, cutlery, glasses, coffee pots, tea pots and lots of pots and pans. It also has a double fridge and a dish washer. Should you need to, a washing machine is available. You settle the electricity bill at the end of the week, which worked out at around 170 euros for 11 people. Include that in your costing's.
Highly recommend this villa and my party would like to thank Antonio and James for such a hospitable and welcoming stay to this wonderful part of Italy.

Beautiful historic Villa, perfectly located!
We arrived for a week long stay this past summer, and although our arrival was late at night, Antonio was there waiting for us. What a class act and a perfect host!
Villa Amalia itself is an amazing property just outside of Cava, as the locals call it. From the pool, the game room downstairs and all the bedrooms, this property was easily our favorite place we stayed. We missed it the day we left!
Antonio and his wife Amalia were so kind and helpful, but only as involved in our stay as we wanted them to be. They live next door so they are there if you need anything.
Antonio and the Villa Amalia were a highlight of our two week family vacation - the location feels like you're in the countryside, but you're close to the Amalfi coast, Salerno and Napoli with all of its enchantments. We also made it down the coast to Battipaglia (home of the best Mozzarella di bufala!), Paestum and one of my favorite walking cities in Italy - Salerno.
You will love it and will never forget this place. And kids LOVE the pool! Grazie Antonio - apprezzo molto la tua amicizia!

Excellent location and an oasis of fun!
We vacationed at Villa Amalia with two families of 6 each (total of 12), 2 parents and 4 children in each family. This Villa is in a central location that provides easy access to Salerno, Naples, Almafi Coast, Positano etc. The town of Cava dei Tirreni is also a hidden gem. The children loved the pool, foosball table, pool table and card table. We enjoyed getting to know Antonio and James, they are wonderful hosts who went above and beyond our expectations in making our stay absolutely wonderful. Wonderful Family Vacation at Villa Amalia
This has been a trip that our family has dreamed about for years.
Professor Antonio is a most gracious and accommodating host. From the moment that we stepped into the villa we were awed by the beauty of the grounds and home. Each room expresses a style that is meant for comfort and reflects a warmth that invites you to stay. Antonio has taken us to many places that are not tourist attractions, that have given us a chance to interact with the Italian people. James, the gardener, has always greeted us with a smile and a helping hand. James has also been very instrumental in being our communication link to Antonio and others. We are all glad that we have had the chance to get to know him. Our family chose to have a meal prepared by Mr. Luciano.
There are not enough words to describe the culinary experience of this wonderful dinner. Antonio purchased fresh ingredients from the market that were expertly prepared. From antipasto to dessert there was not one complaint from our family of 9. We would highly recommend staying at Villa Amalia and if given the chance we would come back.

Beautiful villa!
We spent a week at this villa in June this year. Everything was as advertised - we had 10 people and it accommodated us very well. Fruit, wine, bread and cheese were awaiting us upon our arrival, as was our distinguished host Antonio. He and James made our stay very pleasant. The villa was clean and the couple little things that were not functioning properly were fixed immediately. As a separate arrangement, Antonio agreed to drive us where ever we wanted/needed to go - this worked out very well since the property is not very "walkable".

Holiday romantic and exciting
With my family along with three friends, I have had a wonderful holiday during the first two weeks in September. The villa is situated in an ancient village born in 1300 and has been built in the first half of 1700. In this village there are other ancient and prestigious villas all facing the sea of the coast of Amalfi. We were ten people and we made many excursions with Antonio. landlord, who drove a minibus. Antonio took us to visit the most interesting and important places, always with great care of us. We enjoyed the Italian cuisine of Lucian, the brilliant chef of the villa. Twice we sailed sailing the waters of Amalfi and Positano using a beautiful boat of the villa with two nice sailors. This was very exciting.

I dreamed of a villa
I went back to Villa Amalia, with my family , for the second time in the month of July , to spend two weeks of vacation .
This year we were 12 people because I also brought my grandson of seven months.
Living in Villa Amalia is always beautiful and restful. It is furnished in all floors with furniture from the 1700s and with paintings of the same period and major authors . In the lounge is on the walls and ceilings of the frames of 1700 coated with real 24 carat gold. This is really fascinating.
The large pool is completely covered with white marble and the water is the color of topaz . The owners, Antonio and his wife Amalia with the two gardeners were attentive to our needs , using a lot of discretion .
Just in front of the entrance gate of the villa there is a bus stop and a small market where you can buy everything. The villa is in a central location such as to favor the excursions in any direction. Villa Amalia is even more beautiful than described on the website .
Thanks Amalia ! Thanks Antonio !
