This property was amazing! The mansion was so beautiful and the owners were the most hospitable people we have ever encountered! The grounds were so beautiful and peaceful. The history of mansion was amazing, each room had information and the decor was beautiful!

My husband and I stayed just one night. The property obviously has so much history and character. The grounds are so beautiful. I can see it being an incredible place for weddings. The property is very clean and we had everything we needed. We slept very well. Unfortunately we couldnā€™t use the pool and tennis court like we wanted. September weather can be tricky for the pool with the leaves falling all the time. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. Thank you very much.

The property was unique and quite beautiful. If you're a fan of Downton Abbey this would be a great example of the homes of that era. A bit less fussy in decor than Downton, but a very unique experience for sure Our hosts were very friendly, the grounds were excellent to explore if you are a plant enthusiast, plenty of quiet activities to keep you entertained, and the room was perfect with comfy beds, modern bathroom, a fan to keep the room cool, and a lake front view!

From the moment we drove in we could tell this place was above whatvwe expected. When we drovw up we were greeted by my first name. We checked in and were given a quick briefing of the home. From the history witch boasts a timeline of all of its owners along with the pivotal position it played in world history. To its elaborate man cave in the basement to its amazing garden outaide it was allot to take in. We stayed for 3 days and by the end of it it felt like it was your home you were staying in. And the owners were your servants lol. One needs to remember and appreciate the fact the owners are in fact sharing their home with you and trying to bring us back to a simpler time sharing this piece if history with the rest of the world.the home is meticulously maintained in era correct decor as much as possible and clean. If your looking to relive this era definitely check out the Blaylock. We will for sure be back aa there was still so much we missed in the garden.

Staff went out of the way to help, when I mistakenly thought I had lost some earrings after leaving the hotel. The actual hotel is full of interesting history of the area. I will definitely be back

The bedroom we stayed in was lovely it was clean. I have no complaints about that. I was disappointed, however when I got to the entrance that I was asked to take my shoes off before entering the premises My shoes are clean, and there is no reason for me not to have worn them. It was a pain going to the car, getting my bags, taking my shoes off and then having to walk up the stairs to our room. Frankly, I thought it was unprofessional Iā€™ve never had to do that before. Then, at check out, we were having our coffee in the breakfast room and the manager came in with his debit machine, asking for the clients to pay up . When I went to go and pay my bill, I noticed it was different than what had been quoted and he had added an additional seven dollars and some odd cents to our bill. When I inquired about it, he told me it was to go towards the yard maintenance or something to that effect. He did take that yard maintenance tax off at my request.

We had a lovely view of Kootenay Lake from our window. The grounds and garden around the mansion are amazing to stroll through. The history of the mansion is very interesting as you'll see by the pictures and articles displayed inside. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming as well. We would definitely stay there again.

Had an amazing stay, right from being greeted by Jennifer right after getting out of the car until leaving early two days later. Even before check-in received a tour inside themansion with its spaoious rooms, memorabilia, old time artefacts before being shown my splendid room with view of Kootenay Lake. An excellent billiard table was set up and lounge chairs throughout the complex made for an enjoyable stay. The swimming pool was a bonus with minimal chlorine to make my eyes sore. Lots of deck chairs to sit and soak up the sun. The Rock Garden, which took twice as long as the mansion to build, was extraordinary with its intricate network of pathways, where one discovers an elephant spouting water and a fantastic sundial. There are beautiful views in and from the rock garden. Breakfast, at 8:30am, was a treat consisting of granola & yogurt and a kabob of fruit and mini-pancakes. Coffee was available from 7am. It was a good occasion to meet other guests and learn where they were from and what they had planned for taking in area attractions: railway trail bike ride, shopping, Lakeside Park, museums, drive up to Balfour, Ainsworth Hot Springs... The only improvement might be in the parking. It wasn't clear we could park in front of the reception area, which was in the afternoon sun. For my second night I parked in the shady lower area. Staff were courteous and friendly throughout my stay. Surprisingly the cost was less than some of the accommodation in town.
