The rooms are clean and comfortable. I like the caramel wafer in the rooms as a wee Scottish classic. Staff are always great people, very personable and human giving a lovely feeling to the place. The bar and the fire have a cosy and warm atmosphere, with great real ales on tap. Breakfast has the classics, and sets you up for the day well.

The Cairn hotel is an older hotel, and in need of updating in places, I found the staff were very welcoming, friendly, and helpful. I had a small single room, which was adequate for my needs. But I did notice a couple of small areas in the ensuite shower room where it looked as though repairs had been left unfinished. There was no health and safety issue, as far as I could see, but it just looked like it needed finishing. My room, and the areas of the hotel I experienced (lobby, bar, restaurant) were all impeccably clean. The bed was very comfortable. ✅️ The breakfast was excellent 👌 The two evening meals I ate were tasty, but I was a little disappointed that when I went down for dinner on the Sunday evening they had run out of the roast dinner. But it was very busy. A big plus for me was that a very reasonably priced packed lunch was provided on request.

We spent over night. The place is a little shabby but the staff are super friendly and helpful. Food was delicious. We had a room overlooking the street on a Saturday night so were not surprised to hear some revelry but it didn't last long. Overall pleasant enough.

Great hotel in picturesque village near Aviemore

Great find. 5 mins up dual carriageway from Aviemore. Beautiful wee village. Bar full of locals. Always a good sign. Stayed with my dog. Very dog friendly. Good breakfast. Cooked to order, no buffet Will definitely be back with the misses.

Cairn Hotel

The good:- staff were all lovely, comfy bed and best scrambled eggs (breakfast) that i have ever had. Loads of parking (BTW car park entrance is next to coffee shop, I initially drove past it) The bad:- three of the five ceiling light bulbs weren't working (also bedside lights are too low down for reading) and room door jammed so badly that i needed help to get in The ugly:- broken toilet seat The issues above were minor but irritating. However, the cheerful and helpful staff and the excellent breakfast, together with a charming "feel" outweighed these niggles. With a wee bit more attention to detail this hotel could be fantastic
