Historical B&B

Amazing find on the outskirts of Paarl. This historic Cape Dutch farm has bern tastefully decoratrd and restored with "craftsmanship" finishes and great attention to detail. Also a nice lounge with cosy fireplace. It's a small but intimate B&B with only 6 rooms. A beautiful and quiet location worth staying for longer than one night to explore the area and winelands.

While the place is handsome and well kept, there are serious issues that I encountered that were reported here by others. The two most prominent were that the choice of rooms I was given was either a room with a door that opens strainght into the dining room, or a room with a bath ONLY (= no showerhead... in 2020...). My complaint resulted in the owner explaining to me this the room EXPEDIA assigned to me.... on my second night I moved to a room which was separate from its bathroom, not a great deal either. The second issue was the owner told me she would be available only up to 19:00 to let me in although she lives on the premises, which forced me to change my plans for that day. A third issue was the area itself, which is not the greatest location around Pearl, with a loud party taking place all day long on Saturday. If you do decide to go there, I strongly suggest that you find out in advance about which room you are getting, and make sure that you can arrive at a time that is convenient for you.

The property is immaculate.The interior is full of period furniture and the grounds are superbly attended.For anyone visiting the area this a must destination.And if that wasn't enough the staff are extremely friendly and helpful.First class.

Beautiful venue but a few unpleasant aspects

The hotel is really beautiful and our room was very clean and beautifully furnished. We also had a beautiful view from our room. The only thing that was unpleasant was an extremely strong smell of cigarette smoke in the house while we were there. It was very invasive and even though there were signs that indicated a non-smoking area it obviously wasn’t being adhered to. Our bathroom was separate from our room and there was a camera that was directed on our door so going to the bathroom made us feel quite uncomfortable. The breakfast was also quite strange, they only served breakfast between 8 - 9:15 so we didn’t stay for that.

Will definite be a place to stay at.

Rooms clean and tidy, although not all rooms have showers only baths. WiFi not so great in some rooms but still a great place to stay at. Quiet and great scenery.

Located a few miles from the centre of Paarl in a large beautiful garden with great views of the surrounding mountains. Nice swimming pool to rear of property. Our room (2) was large with comfortable bed and large bathroom. Breakfast served at large table with other guests. Breakfast as fine but not spectacular but enjoyed eating at large table with other guests.

Recommended! Fabulous stay in historic small Cape Dutch Manor House, surrounded by its own working vineyard. Beautiful mountain scenery. Great breakfasts, charming staff. Small swimming pool, attractive terraces and traditional stone ’braai’ available for guest’s BBQs. 2 miles from Wellington with good shopping centre, much nicer than Paarl. Evolve gym in Wellington is good and has cheap temporary memberships.

Ein kleines Juwel außerhalb von Paarl

Das Gästehaus war sehr schön, sauber und mit viel Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet. Da es aus 1692 stammt, entspricht es vllt. nicht jedermanns Geschmack, aber uns hat’s gefallen. Die Außenanlagen mit Pool und Garten waren sehr gepflegt. Am Pool könnten einige Liegen mehr stehen. Leider ist das Gästehaus sehr abgelegen, so dass man auf Auto oder Taxi angewiesen ist.

Hübsches Weingut

Tolle Gutsherren/Weingutatmosphäre und Gastgeberin. Großzügige Zimmer und gutes Frühstück. Jedoch lag unser Zimmer direkt am Essbereich und man wird frühmorgens durch das Personal, welches das Frühstück vorbereitet oder durch andere frühstückende Gäste geweckt.

Fantastic atmosphere!

Our stay was wonderful! The management and staff were friendly and helpfull. We stayed in the outside section which I regard as better because it is more private. The room was spacious, beautifully decorated and clean. The early Dutch settler heritage could be seen in the decor and room names. We loved the breakfasts in the mornings and fireplace in the evening. I can recommend De Kleijne Bos to anyone as a quiet, value for money, comfortable and neat lodging in the Paarl winelands area.

Wonderful hospitality

Even though there was a complication due to hotels.com and we could not stay, Joey's (the manager) hospitality was amazing and they did all they could to help us out. A beautiful charming location, will definitely be back.
