This cottage on Cape Dauphin is a lovely, spacious, well furnished, and comfortable place to enjoy the beauty of Cape Breton. Its quiet location amidst evergreens overlooking the ocean made it perfect for relaxing. Even on the day it rained I enjoyed just sitting on the screened porch and reading. It's about a half-hour in different directions to the Cabot Trail and the towns of Baddeck and North Sydney, and all the cultural sights and natural vistas we wanted to see and explore. The towns offer excellent but always casual dining, and supermarkets in Baddeck and North Sydney offer anything you'd want to buy to prepare your own meals (stop at one of them for food supplies on your way to the house before you arrive; Richard has provided everything else). The kitchens, bedrooms, and baths are very well equipped, and we appreciated the fullsize washer and dryer. Richard was an excellent host and communicated with us well. With all that we saw and did, we still had lots of time to rest, relax, and enjoy being in a beautiful, calming part of the world--and the house on Cape Dauphin had everything to do with that.
