Reception and staff all good. Easy check in and out and really helpful. Bar area fine, work still going on in the hotel with a bit sectioned off. Breakfast buffet good and plenty of choice.
Unfortunately for me the rooms were not great. Hallway/lift area smelled awful, like they were damp or there was a sewage issue. Carpets looked the same when i stayed years ago pre covid as did the communal bathroom area from reception.
The room itself was spacious/tidy overlooking courtyard. Well stocked tea/coffee facilities which was a god send. Iron/iron board in the room, few coat hangers and a hairdryer. Bathroom ok but appeared like it was the same as it did years ago, not new like photos on the website. There are holes in tiles where toilet roll holder has been moved for example.
The walls in the room were a bit battered/worn. The suitcase area near wardrobe had a white cover over the top to make it look tidy but made it just look worse!
Wow was it noisy!! Had literally no sleep, there seemed to be a constant stream of room or hallway fire exit doors banging all afternoon when I was in the room and all night! In addition, I could literally hear the bloke next door to my room snoring! A little sound proofing wouldn't go amiss. Its not the hotels fault people cant close a door quietly when its late etc out of courtesy but maybe remind them or stick something on the door. The hall fire doors need sorting they close slowly and noisy!
Staff were helpful and really polite.
