I booked 2 room, for myself and a colleague from Pakistan and I called a week before the stay to check if there was any Halal food available at the restaurant. I was informed that "ALL the Chicken on the menu was Halal", so reserved a table in the restaurant. On ordering the food, the waitress checked with the kitchen and we were informed that the Chicken was NOT in fact Halal.... This was most concerning..... Overall, the room was in need of a make-over as it is looking tired and worn. The room temperature was very warm, so had to sleep with the window open, but this was noisy. Overall, not a great experience...

We arrived early and the woman who greeted us was friendly,there was a £10 an hour charge for early checkin so she brought us to the bar to get a cup of tea.We also had lunch there which was quite nice.We were going to a show that afternoon so were barely in our room before leaving again.We returned around 9pm to have a drink in the bar,waited a while to order&pay as staff were scarce,even on reception.Upon returning to our room my Mum noticed the door to our balcony not only didn't lock,but wouldn't even close properly.This not only felt unsafe as we were on the ground floor,but also uncomfortable as it was a windy night&it kept blowing open.We also noticed a large cluster of insects at the top of the curtain by the door.As it was late&we were in our pyjamas,there was no phone in the room to call reception&it was hard enough to find a staff member in the 1st place,i ended up pushing the couch against the door to keep it closed for the night.Upon checkout the next morning the man on reception didnt even ask how our stay was,I informed him of the issues&he thanked us for telling him but didnt offer any apology or compensation.Could otherwise be a nice hotel but we were disappointed by lack of attention to security and cleanliness and attitude of staff

We were really disappointed. We booked a suite for two nights, a treat as we were going to a Strictly recording. The room had curtains hanging off the poles, dead wasps on the window ledge, dirty windows, cobwebs, a lamp that didn’t work, no shower gel/shampoo (empty bottles) and no bathrobes (as described on the website). We mentioned these after the first night, apparently they can’t reach the curtain pole and don’t have bathrobes. We did get shower gel. The room was tired with a very old coffee machine, very little coffee provided, sofas with broken legs and an uncomfortable mattress. The hotel did not ask for feedback directly. We would not recommend.

Great situation

lovely old Manor House set in gorgeous well kept grounds. Be aware there is no lift and a lot of stairs, not an issue for us. Room was quiet, clean, warm and comfortable. Never found the hairdryer but no big deal. We didn’t eat there so can comment on food and service in the restaurant.
