Hyatt Regency Birmingham-The Wynfrey Hotel
4/5 Good
"I’m not picky, like at all, but we booked this room for one particular reason: to take our girls to the galleria and to Dave & Buster’s on an overnight surprise Father’s Day retreat, per his request. Immediately upon entrance of the parking deck, we were confused, because the room key is the gate opener, which we didn’t have, and the entrance to the hotel is an elevator that takes you to the lobby. Once in the lobby and entered in, you take another elevator to the rooming area. The sink vanity sink in the bathroom had a huge crack in it, there were water marks on the ceiling, and a few other minor things of that nature. The bed though! I have a spinal and arthritis issue, so I couldn’t sleep AT ALL, the whole night. We couldn’t use the pool because the weather, understandable, and was also closed until after checkout time. The gym was the smallest one I’d seen in a hotel that has one. The biggest issue we had was walking into the mall thinking we’d be able to walk through mall and to Dave & Buster’s without leaving, and after walking about 5 miles and asking 5 different employees directions, found that alas you can not, and you have to drive there via car or walk all away around the building outside. If you get the chance to purchase the breakfast buffet online, do it though, because I paid $11 online for 4, and the receipt said it would have cost $105! It was nice, upity croud, could have enjoyed a few other places more though, like the Redmond or Hilton Homewood."
