2/10 Terrible

My recent stay at The Malone Hotel was unfortunately a significant letdown. I chose this hotel based on its reputation as a classic, traditional establishment near Queen's University, expecting a certain standard of quality and comfort. However, the reality was far from what was anticipated.
Upon checking in, the first room we were assigned was in a state of disrepair. The carpets were noticeably dirty and covered in stains, the heating was non-functional, and to make matters worse, the toilet flush was broken. It was not the welcoming experience one would hope for.
After repeatedly and insistently bringing these issues to the staff's attention, we were moved to another room. Unfortunately, this second room was not much of an improvement. Located in the attic, it felt like an afterthought. The carpets here were also stained, the window shades were broken, the phone wasn't working, and a table lamp was out. The room also lacked basic amenities like a microwave or other expected facilities.
What compounded the frustration was the lack of service. Despite our repeated requests to clean the room and address the issues, no action was taken. The need to constantly follow up for basic services and a clean, functional room made the entire experience stressful and deeply disappointing. I had high hopes for The Malone Hotel, but sadly, my stay was defined by poor maintenance and a lack of attention to guest needs. It's clear this hotel is in desperate need of a major upgrade
