This property has so much potential to be beautiful. From the lack of attention to detail when cleaning to the misrepresentation of the house online, our stay was barely tolerable. Things that went wrong-No grill on property. When I called the agent assured me there was one there and even sent me a picture and said that was taken by the cleaning crew this morning. Turned out after Back and fourth calls, the grill WAS NOT on property and the reason they told me was because it was so old and worn it wasn’t safe to grill on any longer. Wish they would have refunded me all the bbq meat we brought for that weekend. First let down. Next, there was a large tree roach in the couch which grossed out my family. Even worse, two roaches were inside the bed my nephew slept in. When I notified the manager she asked me for pictures? Wow, that never crossed my mind. My plan was to get rid of them as fast as possible and attempt to change the conversation. Third- the waterfall in the pool was broken. Also not mentioned when we rented. Fourth, the master bathroom had a hand held shower head which was PERFECT for my elderly family member who I had to assist with showering for safety. Not perfect. It was NOT WORKING which was a mess for us. Her shower turned into mine. Overall it is clear this home is not well kept or looked after. I truly was so excited for this stay with family I had not seen in a while and it turned out to be a real let down. I truly was embarrassed that I booked it!!!

Relaxing staycay with friends and family!"We had a recent and enjoyable stay in Austin at the "Backyard Bliss VRBO", with family and friends. The stay was a "staycay" for me and my husband, we had guests from out of town and they too enjoyed the change of scenery. The swimming pool was a highlight, and the house felt cozy and comfortable, and was a great gathering spot for our group. The property could use some extra attention, however the experience was still positive. I would definitely consider staying there again. The pool maintenance person was friendly and efficient. The fountain was not working during the stay. We appreciated the house's cozy atmosphere. I would recommend this vacation rental for families and friends looking for a relaxing getaway.

We really had a great vacation. We lived in Texas for 12 years and have moved away so this was a great place to catch up with friends. Pool was great. Had a few maintenance issues but they were quick to fix. Washer broke and we had to go to a laundry mat but they gave us a 100 credit for the trouble. That’s the main reason for the 4 star. Definitely need a washer and dryer. I would go back though.

Pool was NOT kept up and was green

Overall, the inside of the house was in fairly nice condition, and met our needs for our trip to Austin. However, we were visiting over Memorial Day weekend and had booked a house with a nice swimming pool to enjoy family swim time. We messaged the host ahead of our stay that we planned to use the pool. They told us the pool was currently “fully functional for guest use”, but could not be guaranteed against “unforeseen circumstances” “beyond their control”. When we checked in, the pool was completely green, we checked the chlorine levels and they were undetectable. We contacted the host - they did have the pool guy come during our stay, but not until the day before checkout. The morning we checked out the pool was starting to clear up but still had visible algae and we weren’t comfortable swimming and didn’t have time before our checkout anyway.All this to say, I would NOT count on the pool being available at all, it seemed pretty obvious the pool is not regularly upkept and the host made it clear the pool could not be guaranteed. They also were not willing to issue any refund for the pool not being available.

Yard needs some love….

The home was very nice and clean. The pool was nice but was low on water and the fountain didn’t work. That was fine but the pictures are deceiving and the yard needs some love. Overall a nice place!!!

Misleading listing, neglected property

The exterior features dead plants, over grown weeds, dangerous and loose boards and tiles around the pool, piles of garbage and a major fly infestation inside and outside the house, unclean pool, dirty grill and seating areas - and we had to reconnect and reboot the internet routers and TV - after cleaning - just to top it off. Property Manager was responsive, though the tone of concern comes off as fake when it’s clear that the property hasn’t been maintained for years. We picked Austin as a destination largely based on our expectations for this property and the pictures and information in the listing. It was massively disappointing.

Overall, the house is OK. Ckean, but everything is in pretty shabby shape. The backyard is in terrible shape. Does not look anything like the photo on the listing.

We loved our stay at this place while we went to watch softball games at the University of Texas. The beds were so comfortable. Communication was great. Would definitely stay here again.

Place was in need of maintenance.

Lots of small things in need of repair. 1/4 gap under exterior door in the master bedroom, both sinks backed up and drained very slowly. Toilet in master bath would run until you messed with the handle. Missing part of handle to shower valve.

Great property!

We chose this property due to its proximity to extended family in South Austin and its ability to accommodate our large family (5 adults, one teen). It suited us perfectly. The host was attentive and handled a couple of small issues with ease. Note: the waterfall into the pool is disconnected, so you won’t get the same experience shown in the pictures.

PERFECT House/Property!!

Our family stayed here during our Christmas Vacation in Austin. The house is quaint and perfect for all of your needs! The pool is wonderful, the living room couch is AMAZING and the Master Bed is the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in!

Perfectly peaceful.

We came to Austin to bury my husband’s mother, so we wanted to stay in a home that would allow us a place to be together, visit, reminisce and support one another. This home was perfect for the situation. The neighborhood was very peaceful.
