Located in a former Monastery , it is in a very peaceful setting. We only stayed one night. It would be a place to just relax. Plenty of trails to walk on.

This was is a large cloister, to a large degree converted to a hotel and conference centre, while maintaining some space and certainly the aura of its original purpose. There are still a few nuns resident in a private section of the property, and we had the opportunity to chat with one of them to learn much about the history of the place. The hotel conversion was very well done, without destroying the historical significance of the property. The rooms were comfortable, but not very spacious. There are large grounds for walks, and even a charming little animal farm that kids would enjoy. The onsite chapel is well worth a visit. The onsite restaurant is a bit formal in its presentation, but nonetheless friendly and welcoming. It's menu focuses on local produce and cuisine.

Excellent place

My wife and I stayed there for 3 nights as a base for driving around the region. The place is fantastic, very nice breakfast. As the hotel is located in a very small village, we ended up having dinner there a couple of times and the food was well prepared. The services were good as well , my only negative remark is that the room could have a bigger bed and mini-bar.

One of the best hotels!

Fantastic location - beautiful property. The breakfast is the best buffet I have ever had and would visit only for that! Rooms are clean, very comfortable and well designed leaving some original features, but providing modern comfort. Highly recommended!

Great relaxing hotel

The area is great for relaxing or for a nice bike ride in the countryside. We tried to explore the church and monastery but I wish that there was some type of tour or brochure we could see to explain its historical significance. The inside of the church looks beautiful and would have been a worthwhile experience. As it stands, it's just a building attached to a hotel.

A Gem!

We loved Kloster Holzen. The grounds were beautiful, the rooms were spotless, the wifi was fast, and the church on premises was absolutely breathtaking. The dinner and breakfast were excellent and reasonably priced. The rooms were a surprisingly modern juxtaposition to the historic grounds and buildings, but it really worked! This would be great for a wedding (which they had one on site while we were there) or a relaxing getaway. Only drawback was some echoing hallways, but very minor point with no issues of rowdy, late night guests.

Disappointing that the advertised petting zoo appeared to never be open. The bathrooms were incredibly odd and were without soap/shampoo which seemed odd based on the caliber of this hotel. Very isolated and nothing really to do around

Beautiful place!

A beautiful property in a beautiful place. Dinner and breakfast were both excellent. Room was fine, but there were a couple details overlooked (used tissue paper and half consumed bottle of water in room as we arrived...). The pillows were simply too thin for what North Americans are used to

Wonderful mixture of traditional and modern

The Kloster is a modern hotel attached to an abbey. The hotel has been lovingly modernized and is a skilful blend of original features with modern interior design. Our room was comfortable. The bathroom was huge and the shower was the best!

Unique and very nice hotel in the country.

This hotel is connected to a beautiful Church (you must see it if you stay there). The hotel itself is very nicely done, with good size rooms and very nice and large bathrooms. Beware that not all rooms have Wifi (some have wired internet). Breakfast was good. The hotel is not in a major city but since we had a car, it didn't matter to us. We highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing stay. You should also take the time to walk around the grounds.
