Our stay at this VRBO was disappointing and we cannot recommend this property. The location was convenient, with easy access to bus routes and the convention center. Being a two-bedroom flat, we shared the accommodation with another couple. However, we arrived to find the apartment dirty and in poor repair. The floors, carpet, walls, cupboards, and closets were very dirty. The kitchen sink was leaking, several light bulbs were burned out, and unsecured hinges left a kitchen cupboard door hanging precariously. Although we could have left, finding alternative accommodation and obtaining a refund at the last minute was not feasible. Instead, we decided to clean the apartment ourselves. Ugo was initially responsive. He agreed to let us check in about one hour early, provided replacement light bulbs, and sent a plumber to repair the leaking kitchen sink. However, after we requested compensation for the extensive cleaning we did, he became less responsive. We contacted VRBO, providing photographs documenting the condition of the flat. VRBO confirmed that the property did not meet its standards and they attempted to negotiate a resolution with Ugo. Ugo disputed our claim and refused to refund the cleaning fee. VRBO advised us that they cannot force Ugo to provide compensation. Our family has used VRBO often and has never stayed at a property in such poor condition. It’s unfortunate as this property has good potential if only it was properly cleaned and cared for by the owner.
