Sel Hotel Mývatn
"We had a good stay at Sel-Hótel Mývatn. When we first pulled up, we were a little nervous because there were midges everywhere outside, but the staff explained that they are attracted to the light, do not bite, and usually do not fly into the rooms even if you open the window. Thankfully, it ended up not being a big issue. The hotel had some really nice extras that we appreciated, including a free coffee and hot chocolate machine available anytime, plus darts and a pool table, which my daughter really enjoyed. The breakfast was amazing and had the most variety of any place we stayed along the Ring Road. There was a waffle station, lots of bread choices, fruit, cereal, yogurt, bacon, eggs, sausage, and the typical European breakfast options. Our room was a little warm at first, but once we opened the window and the staff brought us a fan, it was much better. The beds were okay, and the location near the back of the lake was quiet and peaceful. Overall, this was a good stay with helpful staff, a great breakfast, and a nice quiet location."
