The IHG Crowne Plaza Hotel in Zhuhai is deserving of it’s accolade as a world class premier 5 star hotel. From the moment we arrived until we departed, we experienced the top notch service that puts to shame other Crowne Plaza hotels we have stayed at around the world. I cannot express my gratitude more deeply for the high standards and professionalism that this flagship of the IHG group has aspired to. In a word “Kudos”. In short, I would recommend not only this hotel but, also Zhuhai as a great destination to travel to.
For business trip, this is my 1st stay at this hotel. As a Spire member, I could say their service is really outstanding. Staff from front desk to restaurant are all polite and patient. I remembered some of their names, including Terry Feng and Alfred Cao. Thank you again. Some suggestion though, first, the chair used in the room is not appropriate to match the desk, not comfortable. The chair should be with adjustable height function. Another is about pillow, suggest to prepare additional "firm" one. The pillow in the bed is just too soft.
We had a pleasant two nights stay at the hotel. A hassle free experience. Staff was super attentive and service minded. The hotel was fresh and clean. Breakfast buffe was huge, serving traditional Chinese food mixed with bacon/eggs/bread/yoghurt and whatnot. My only complaint is that the beds were quite hard and the temperature in the room wasn’t adjustable, so it was freezing cold in the night.
My family and I spent 2 nights there before going to Guangzhou. Our king bed room was really huge and comfortable. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. They spoke good English and helped us get a taxi to Chimelong Ocean Park which was the main reason we came to Zhuhai. They also gave us a map of the city and a small book on Zhuhai which we have taken back home. We followed the directions to the Fisher Girl which is the symbol of Zhuhai. We did see it in the distance and were happy to see also the beach in China though we already lived on an island.
The enjoyment began with the IHG Gold Elite welcome. The rooms were next, pleasantly furnished well presented, light, good furniture, excellent beds, fresh fruit, quick internet, good showers. Nice towels. The room service food was excellent and breakfast also very good range of appealing, tasty dishes. Plenty of lovely fruit as well. I highly recommend the Crowne Plaza as, in addition to the above it is close to shops and easily accessed from the ferry terminal.
I liked this hotel more as the week passed. I spent 7 days for a business trip and the whole experience was very good. The room was huge, nicely decorated comfortable bed, several pillows of varying firmess to chose from, which is a great idea. The desk was good and allowed you to work well. Internet conection was a bit of a pain as it disconnected often. Other thing I found odd was that there were no coffee making facilities in the room which is a bit of a problem early in the morning. The breakfast buffet was good and varied, combination of fruit and chinese dishes with great pastries and good coffee. The chinese restaurant in 4th floor was very good, great service, caring staff, fine dishes, loved it. The gym was limited for such an hotel. Around the hotel there were many shops an a mall within shoping distance. Staff sometimes struggled to communicate in english (but of course my chinese is hopeless). I will stay again.
Definitely my go to hotel in this town, and consistently solid service with that feeling of not having to worry about being taken care of, which is quite rare in general, and particularly rare at this price point in China. Although it is a bit away from the city center, it's worth the short taxi ride. Great facilities, newly renovated, front desk and service staff who know what they're doing, great outdoor pool and a breakfast buffet that's tough to beat.
May2018. This hotel was the Holiday Inn by IHG but was recently up-branded to Crowne Plaze by IHG. However, I still feel that everything inside has been well maintained all these years. I feel that their staff nowadays are better trained and less intrusive unlike in the past years. I haven't been staying in this hotel for 6 years already, so I was pleasantly surprised by the nicer feeling when I was back in May2018. I have no complaints. Everything works as expected. The taxi ride to the famous Gongbei underground shopping area cost about CNY20 one way. Beware that the taxi drivers will not know the hotel by the new name. They still recognise the old name of 粤财假日酒店 (Yuè Cái Jià Rì Jiǔ Diàn) (Yue4 Cai2 Jia4 Ri4 Jiu3 Dian4). There used to be an Italian restaurant upstairs but the staff told me that it is under renovation. The area opposite the hotel and the area behind the hotel have many local non-tourist shops like hardware shops, electrical components shops, stationery shops, a small hospital, etc. However, if you want to find restaurants, you will have to walk 10 to 15 minutes up or down the main road. If you walk along the main road (in the direction of the seaside) you will come to a shopping mall which has a Carrefour supermarket. The name at the top of the mall building is [International Trade Shopping Plaza]. That mall has many restaurants and there is even a dessert shop on the ground floor selling durian flavoured desserts. The shop is called Balik Pulau (after a famous durian growing area in Penang, Malaysia). From the hotel, if you walk along the main road away from the seaaside, then you will come to multiple ethnic Chinese restaurants (Hakka, Cantonese, etc.). I find that summer is way too hot, but when I was there in autumn, winter and spring, there is a nice hill park (Jingshan Park) diagonally opposite the hotel where I like to trek to the summit. The entrance to the start of the trek is along the main road facing the sea (about 20 minutes walk from the hotel). FrancisTLim.
Transformed from a Holiday Inn, the result is much more than cosmetic and name change. Smooth experience all the way, major improvement to food and beverage especially breakfast. Nice rooms, great value. Pickup service from the nearby ferry port was prompt, even at the late hour of my arrival.
