We had a friend who lives locally check out the rooms for us. (Won't ask him again!)First off, I called directly to make a reservation. When we tried to check in, they didn't have it!! It was clean, the refrigerator looked new, and the microwave worked. The wall unit AC was old but it worked, also. There are no amenities, There's no shampoo, etc. There's no ice, you have to buy bagged ice from their convenience store! The bedding and bedspread are old. The pillows are horrible. The bathroom has been redone with new tile and fixtures but it is tiny. The shower is dark, and has no light. They seems to cater to out of state construction workers who rent by the month. It also was a bit musty. As my husband told a relative, "We've stayed in a lot worse places, but not for a long time." The handyman was very nice and so was the owner in the office. There still is no maid service. If you are looking for cheap prices, this is the place. It's a shame Salem doesn't have more choices.
I came to town to visit family and friends after being away for 15 years or so. Although I found the place to have little to no emmenities, it was a pleasure to stay in a safe place where the owner personally looks after your needs. The owners are more accommodating than most friends and more helpful than the previous owners. I had a wonderful stay there. I do not confuse small town motels with big city hiltons... it was nicer than the price I paid and the neighbors were all pleasant. I felt safe and warm.
Me, my girlfriend, and our 1 yr old son has stayed here at barnetts for a month now, and we are checking out. The water is not drinkable, it smells like a sewer. When you pay by the weekly rates, you get no maid services or toiletries. WiFi is out most of the time and management doesn't try to help. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Very disappointed
This motel was priced far too high for the room! The screens were all ripped, they don't offer toiletries of any sort! If you want a bar of soap, you better be willing to pay top dollar in their drive-through. The bedding was not only filthy, but torn to shreds! There is no exhaust system in the bathrooms as well as a broken air conditioning unit! Management was rude, and standoffish. You cannot ask for an extra roll of toilet paper, or towel...hell, even the towels were full of holes?! Worst stay ever.
The picture you show as Barnett's has the Dutch Haus sign right in the front of the building. It would be a big disappointment to go to Barnett's to find that it does not look like this picture. Barnett's is a one story building set back from Route 62 with a restaurant in front, then the swimming pool & the motel behind these structures. This is false advertising. I am really disappointed...do not think "tripadvisor" can be trusted. The Colonial Motel you advertise in Salem, Ohio is not the correct picture either...it is also a one story building, nothing like the picture.
I stayed at this hotel for 4 weeks as a traveling construction worker. Doing what I have done for the past 23 years, you can imagine some of he horrid hotel stories I could give you. Barnett's Motel is a fresh change to the extraordinary. The property is sensational, and the comfort of room was impeccable. What satisfied me the most though is the fact that the owner is a person who cares about his tenants. Very hospitable and kind, a true manager who goes out of his way to ensure your comfort. With this recommendation, I am equally pleased to post my name......... -Gregory Gilreath
The rates are very low when compared to all you get. been here 3 times in 1 1/2 yrs and each time the rooms have gotten better. they are remodeling and our room had new carpet, shower, toilet and sink. wireless internet, fridge, microwave, super friendly staff. family owned. just great people. quiet, great parking. just the best deal around for our needs.
We have stayed her now 2 times..and we will again in June whenwe do our antique shows..The owner is a very nice..and if we need anything he accomendates..The prices are very reasonable... IF..you something more elaborate this place is not for you...BUT...we happen to like the quaintness of this place and people...
We have stayed here a total of 3-4 times. We again will be staying this year in August. We loved it when the resturant was there but the store has just about everything you would need. We have a wonderful time with our grandchildren in the pool. It is clean and open until after Labor Day. Don & Carol Brown
