This hotel also is a smart, clean and compact hotel. Rooms are not big and storage space is not enough. However the location of the hotel is excellent - right on the Malioboro street - the happening place in Yogyakarta. Also it is attached to Malioboro Mall which is both good for shopping and food. There are plenty of restaurants near the hotel for testing authentic local food.
Overall location for the hotel was great - it was right smack in the middle of Jalan Malioboro -sorta like the main city of Yogyakarta. Getting an airport taxi (with a coupon) to the Ibis Malioboro was IDR80,000. Ubering would have cost me only IDR25,000 maximum. Uber is the way to go around Yogyakarta. Check-in was smooth and great. The hotel bed was comfortable. Toilet was a little tight. Weird design: the glass door to the shower was scraping the sprout of the rainforest shower - someone didnt get the measurements aligned. The rooms had two big feature artworks of yarns / wool which I really don't get (because the weather is warm!) and it really is a missed opportunity to not feature the thriving artworks of the Yogyakarta artists' base. Housekeeping's attention to details can be improved - the die-cut plastic feature hanging lamp is nice but was full of dust. Hand towels had weird brown stains on the inside of the towels - obviously i couldn't use them. The Hotel was linked to the Mal Malioboro - convenient to get access to supermarket, Macdonalds, Pizza Hut, KFC (Mal Malioboro's food court has a KFC counter). Local street foot can be found along the streets of Malioboro - if the surroundings don't deter you. I have tried a few of the stores (fried spring rolls (lumpiahs) and sate were really good). Moneychanging: The hotel doesnt provide moneychanging services. In fact, most of the hotels on the stretch of Malioboro dont provide moneychanging. The airport moneychanging counters close around 5ish - so be sure to have your foreign currency ready when you arrive at the airport. The main moneychanging office was at Inna Garuda hotel - it is a less than 10 mins walk from the IBIS Malioboro. It is a safe and credible office where you will fill up a little white form at the counter and provide your personal details and the currency to be exchanged. You will be issued with a receipt. The IBIS malioboro concierge and front-of-house were great. They speak fluent English and were attentive. I realise that the indonesians hotel staff are a little shy by nature and may not seem approachable but trust me, they were so helpful and giving. I would still come back to the Ibis Malioboro when I next visit.
This is my first stay here. I feel welcome by all friendly staffs. The room is good and the breakfast is also good. This hotel is like 30 minutes away from airport and 5 minutes from train station. There are a few things concern me such as the on going construction behind the hotel may cause some noise and also it will be better to reserve first since this hotel is always fully booked in these two days of my stay. But overall I enjoy my stay here.
We stayed three nights here. It is easily located off Malioboro Street and close to all the attractions. Did not eat at the hotel so can't comment on the food. The only issue was on our last night. They are building an extension to the hotel next door and they were working on this till gone 1am in the morning. If you are a light sleeper then you definitely want a room on the other side of the hotel. Overall it's the service you expect from an Ibis, clean, comfortable rooms. I would recommend this as a good base for staying at. Five minute walk from train station which is why I picked it.
Like any other ibis hotel, this hotel also is a smart, clean and compact hotel. Rooms are not big and storage space is not enough. However the location of the hotel is excellent - right on the Malioboro street - the happening place in Yogyakarta. Also it is attached to a big mall which is both good for shopping and food. There are plenty of restaurants near the hotel for testing authentic local food. Though it's location is super, due to continuous bad traffic the approach to the hotel is time consuming. The hotel staffs are very polite and good. There was a leak in our toilet, which was not attended even after informing the front desk.
I think the most annoying thing for me is that the food tasted very poorly. I read the review said the food was good. But it's really terrible to be honest. And the view from my room was terrible because they were destroying a building next to the hotel.
In terms of location, this hotel is so strategically located, walking distance to Tugu Train Station, Malioboro Market, Mirota Batik, and Malioboro Street. Last I stayed there was a bit noisy because of the building construction (next to the hotel) and my next room was being renovated (I think) so a bit unpleasant. Hopefully they could finish it soon.
Good services from the day I checked in until the day I checked out. nice and helpful staffs. located in good area with easy access to Malioboro. Many shops and places to eat nearby, you can walk to reach those places.
The hotel on the malioboro street, is a tourist destination in the Yogyakarta city. Direct access to the malioboro mall, a fairly large mall with famous shops and restaurants. Rooms and bathrooms clean, neatly arranged. The beds are nice and there is pillow bolsters, making the bed comfortable. Good breakfast. Good service
Me & my husband choose this hotel because of the location which near Malioboro Street & we've been stay here in 2013. But this time we disappointed because this hotel is not as good as it used to. They're doing renovation so it was noisy at night. (They're expanding to the backside of Malioboro Streetand will change the management to Novotel) My room has a leak near the bathroom & the entrance. The receptionist only say sorry like we have to be okay with that. During the rush hour (check out time) there where only 1 receptionist so we have to wait long enough. I take a picture an old man who take a chair by himself while waiting to be served by receptionist. If you're gonna travel to Yogyakarta, i suggest you to find another hotel.
