I booked 7 rooms at this hotel for a week for my travelling crew. 6 of my crew were bitten by bed bugs and 1 had to go to the hospital to receive treatment. When I brought this to the manager's attention, he denied that they had a bed bug problem. I offered to send him the hospital report for the person who had treatment and he became argumentative at that time. I told him we would be checking out after the day shift that day, about 5pm. Not only did I not receive any kind of discount, the jerk charged me for the night they left!! My company paid for another hotel and we had to cover the costs of laundry and new luggage. I contacted Ramada Canada to let them know of the situation and was given a case number and was told the hotel manager would contact me within a week. I received no contact, instead an email from Ramada Canada telling me that any future conversations about this issue should be had with the hotel manager. I replied to the email but alas was unable to send it as the email address was a "no reply" address. Let this be a cautionary tale to anyone considering staying at this hotel.
Not worth staying at this cheap hotel. The room was so hot and AC was not working. Also we found cockroach on the wall. It was like section 8 housing or cheap motel. We had to shorten our stay at this hotel and moved to Comfort Inn, where it was pleasant stay at night. Stay away from this cheap hotel.
Our car broke down on the 401 highway. We had it towed at night to Canadian Tire and knew it was the alternator that had gone bad. We needed a place to stay and walked several blocks to where there were two hotels. We saw a man outside the Ramada and asked him the price - it was reasonable. We then asked if he was staying there and he said he was the owner. After hearing what had happened, he gave us a discount, took us inside and made sure we were given a room with a king size bed at no extra charge. He could not have been more gracious and accommodating. His staff was very nice and gave us good suggestions on where we could walk for supper. I would definitely stay there again.
We needed to find a hotel room at a time when almost every hotel in the city was completely booked (a combination of Labour Day weekend and hundreds of flooded basements in the area after severe flooding). Maryam at the front desk took a personal interest in our plight, and found us a room. She was patient, polite and professional. I had to write this note to acknowledge her, even before staying at the hotel. I have rated the property excellent based on customer service alone.
The first room we checked into - the bed had been slept in and remade. The sheets were covered in somebody else's hair strands! The sheets had "slept in" wrinkles. Disgusting! The manager moved us to another room, and the second room had fresh and wet coffee stains, still wet from the previous occupants - all over the upholstered bench. We asked for the Bench to be replaced while we were out, and that had not been done. When we returned from dinner, the clerk brought the bench to us. When we left for dinner, we turned on the air-conditioning and left the room. Several hours later we returned and were hit with a "wall of mould" smell when we opened the door to the room. While we were gone, the air-conditioner had been pumping mould into the room! Both myself and my mother had breathing issues from being in that room for a short period of time, and we asked to be moved to another room. The only room left was a room with one bed, and they could not accommodate us in a room with two beds. We asked for our money back as we were going to have to leave this hotel, and find a new hotel with two beds. If we had stayed overnight in that one hotel room, most certainly we would've had serious complications from the mould in the air. If they had the capability of accommodating us in a room with two beds, we would have entertained that option and given them a second, (or should I say third) chance. But they couldn't. The front desk agent called the manager and was not overly polite right in front of us in her discussions with the manager. The manager said he would only charge us one night stay, however we had not stayed in the room at all. He was not going to refund us the money, regardless of having to move rooms twice, and having the hassle of what we went through. I asked the clerk to call back the manager so I could speak to him, to hopefully discuss this and make him understand that his room was uninhabitable that night. He was unreasonable. He told me we needed to pay for the room because he would be unable to resell it that night. He shouldn't be reselling it anyways until he dealt with the mould problem. I had to tell him that I would be calling the Board of Health and writing a poor trip adviser review in order to get our money back. Frankly, I will also be calling the corporate offices of Ramada to discuss how we were treated. This hotel is not worthy of being labelled as a Ramada. Finally he conceded to giving us our money back, and we made a reservation in the hotel across the street. After we checked in, I happened to be standing at the front desk in the new hotel and the ramada manager called over to the new hotel and inquired about us, which I found appalling. He had even asked the front desk clerk at the new hotel how much per night we were charged! I found this completely inappropriate! Luckily, the front desk clerk at the new hotel had ethical standards and handled the inappropriate actions of the Ramada manager appropriately. I do not recommend this hotel. In fact I would classify this hotel as not customer service friendly, and without attention to detail or cleanliness. I cannot believe this hotel is under the Ramada Banner, if this is a franchisee, I would suggest that Ramada remove their name. There are no high standards here. I highly suggest that you check the room first before you stay here, or better yet stay somewhere else.
I had wanted a 2 queen room but was not available for 3 nites so settled for 1 king - big mistake. Handicapped room had queen not king bed, jacuzzi tub took up literally 1/3 of the room (how realistic is that), phone did not work (3 trips to the desk to exchange phone consoles - "maybe its just the wiring in the room". instructions in the room do not clearly tell you how to turn on the tv (only work if the maids have turned off the tv properly in the first place!). After breakfast first morning asked about getting the phone fixed - no message left for day staff so they were totally unaware of any problems - the day receptionist confirms with me that the "king" bed is only a queen - where did I get the idea that it was a king sized bed? She offered to move a few people around and get me a room with 2 queen as originally requested. We moved to a 2 queen room - first time we flushed the toilet it broke! Front desk girl had to come and attempt to flush it herself to confirm it was actually not working before she could call someone in to fix it - does management not trust what the customer says? When the room was "cleaned" each day we noticed that crumbs on the floor magically stayed in place - I guess when you stay more than 1 night there is no need to vacuum the carpet or properly make the beds up (the sheets were not even tucked in under the mattress but left hanging down the side of the bed. On top of all of this the pools pump was broken and we were unable to go swimming in the middle of a heatwave! We were not told this upon check-in and only when I inquired about separate towels for the pool area was I informed of this problem. Thank goodness that the family members we had come to Windsor to visit gave this week-end a positive spin - we definitely would not stay here again unless the owners do some major upgrading.
Just wanted to comment on my frequent stays at Windsor Ramada. I am very impressed with the front counter staff, they are always accommodating when staying at this hotel. A special thanks to Hala from housekeeping for having a clean room ready when I arrive in the morning twice weekly. She is always cheerful and tries to be quiet while doing her duties in the hotel while I am sleeping during the day. Thanks for all you do! Allon
Good hotel for a short stay. Good breakfast. Comfortable beds. Convenient location on main road near restaurants and shops. Neighborhood safe enough to walk alone in evening through nearby residential area and along major roadway. Did not use pool which looked murky from ducks swimming in it. Ridiculous landscaping with washed rocks piled at least 1 foot high on flower/shrub beds; scraped the car door once when opening while parked in end stall.
Nice stafff, rundown motel. Our room was not nice, the bathroom was dirty, there was mold in the tap in the shower, the wallpaper was ripped off in places. There was an overall smell of cat pee in the room. We did get free WiFi and cable tv. Don't expect much in the way of amenities and your coffee maker is the little pour through single cup so no making tea or boiling water. The free continental breakfast is a choice of waffle maker, bagel, cold cereal 2 choices, old bruised apples, oranges, one type of yogurt and a few little pastries.
Awful experience from beginning to end. The rooms are small, the carpet is old and smells and the bathroom was dirty. Our room was not cleaned after the first night and we did not complain but asked for clean towels. We were told to give them our old dirty towels and they would bring us clean towels. We gave them the dirty towels but never received clean towels back. The next day they made the beds but did not vacuum or clean the bathroom and took our last two towels and did not provide us with any clean towels. I went to the front desk and asked for towels and was told there are no towels left in the hotel. I made a fuss and asked to speak to a manager and of course there was no manager on site. I was told she is at her other job. Poor customer service, rooms are dirty and it smells terrible. Would not eat breakfast here and will never return. It says no pets but there are pets roaming the halls
