The Stoneledge "Chalet" on the Nighthawk Ranch is located just a few miles off of scenic Colorado Highway 12, "The Highway of Legends". This incredible property is at an elevation of 8400 feet in the densely forested Sangre de Cristo mountains where you can hike and roam on 350 acres of private forest. The nearest occupied house is over one mile away. Although easily accessed, it is the ultimate in privacy, located at the end of a well-maintained private road. The view of the often-snow-covered Culebra Range is breathtaking. The forest surrounding the home is a mixture of mature Ponderosa Pines along with Douglas and Silver Firs. Spectacular rock formations are scattered around the property. Deer, birds, and other wildlife are abundant and often seen.
The home features three bedrooms and two and one-half baths. One bedroom is downstairs along with a full bath with walk-in shower. Two bedrooms are upstairs along with a full bath with tub/shower and a separate half bath. Each bedroom is furnished with a queen bed. The larger upstairs bedroom also has a twin bunk bed in addition. Not wheelchair accessible since entry requires six stair steps, however mobility-limited guests will have a downstairs bed, bath, and living area.
The great room/kitchen has a wood burning stove which provides warm ambiance in cooler weather. The kitchen is equipped with a gas range, full size refrigerator, microwave, and both conventional and Keurig coffee makers. Kitchen is fully furnished with cookware, dinnerware, silverware, etc. Washer and dryer combo is located in the utility room. Cell phone service is spotty, but the Starlink internet provides dependable communications and lets you stream a wide variety of television.
The two outdoor decks each have outdoor tables and chairs. One deck is facing the forest and the other has a spectacular view of the mountain peaks. There is a gas BBQ grill outside on the mountainside deck where the beauty of sunrises and sunsets will amaze you.
Occupancy limit is eight adults or children over 2. Infants do not count against this limit if you bring your own crib. (Enquire with us about parties of more than 8 persons.)
Nearby attractions include fishing and water sports at North Lake (15 minutes), Monument Lake (20 minutes), and Trinidad Lake (45 minutes), as well as private access to stream fishing on the North Fork of the Purgatoire River. The expansive public lands of North Lake State Game area and San Isabel National Forest are nearby where hiking and ATV trails lead you to peaks over 13,000 feet. Several small restaurants and stores are found in the nearby villages of Weston and Stonewall Gap, as well as a full grocery 25 minutes away at Segundo. It is a beautiful thirty-minute drive over the 10,000-foot Cuchara Pass to the quaint village of Cuchara with its restaurants and shops.
However, the real attraction of this property is its privacy and serene beauty, You'll have hundreds of private acres of forest to roam, watch for wildlife, and rediscover the natural world. Rarely will you hear a man-made sound! A great retreat for business meetings, couples, or a fantastic getaway for the entire family. Although extremely private, the property manager is only 10 minutes away and can quickly attend to any issue which might arise.
