Unwind at Newcomb Hollow Beach!

Summary:
13318 - Architect's Escape: Unwind at Newcomb Hollow Beach!

The Space:
Indulge in modern serenity amidst timeless landscapes at the Architect’s Escape, a contemporary marvel nestled within the embrace of Cape Cod’s National Seashore. Perched on over 5 acres of hilltop seclusion, modern architecture harmonizes with pristine nature, offering a retreat from the bustle of everyday life.
Atop a tranquil hill, the property boasts unparalleled privacy, with no neighbors in sight for over 500 yards. The main structure, adorned with three sun-drenched decks and a screened second-floor porch, offers two spacious bedrooms and two bathrooms on the first floor. Ascend to the second floor, where the open-concept living space, complete with a smart TV, kitchen, and dining area, flows seamlessly into a four-season sun porch-turned-bedroom, ideal for lounging or accommodating extra guests.

For those seeking additional seclusion, a studio cottage awaits, a mere 200 yards away. Rustic yet charming, this minimalist retreat features a queen bed, cozy reading nook, and outdoor shower, providing a private sanctuary for extended family or guests.

The Architect’s Escape accommodates up to 9 guests, ensuring ample space for relaxation and rejuvenation. Venture beyond the confines of the estate and discover a tapestry of natural wonders, with picturesque ponds and ocean beaches just a short stroll away. From Gull Pond to Newcomb Hollow Beach, adventure awaits amidst the pristine landscapes of the National Seashore.

Please note the serene seclusion of the Architect’s Escape is accessed via a quarter-mile packed dirt road, leading to a steep paved driveway. While 4x4 vehicles are not required, we recommend a cautious approach to navigating the terrain.

Delve into the rich history of the property, originally crafted in the 1950s by renowned architect Serge Chermayeff, a luminary of modernist design and friend to architectural legends Eero Saarinen and Marcel Breuer. As you ascend the stairs, take note of Chermayeff's masterful shingle mixed media piece, a testament to the enduring legacy of design and innovation.

Fall on the Outer Cape

This is a lovely spot—unique home in a very cool location that’s perfect for fall. Being able to walk through the woods to the beach was a special treat. Very clean property and responsive management.

On the hill

This property has a lot of great things going for it . It’s very quiet , beautiful views , lovely paths to beach and ponds . The house and cottage are roomy and group friendly . The heater worked great and the kitchen was functional. I always bring my own knifes and my sauté pan and I was glad I did . The only thing I would complain about was that the house needed some maintenance and the bathrooms didn’t seem very clean especially the tubs but overall we really enjoyed our stay and we go out back again. It would’ve been nice to of the house manual had some instructions for that in room heaters remote controls in for the remote controls for the TV which we never did get to work

Peace & privacy

The house was just as represented. On top of a rise in the woods with a large buffer around it, it offered a very different experience to my previous Cape stays. A path thru the woods lead to Newcomb beach - nice to walk there for a change! We plan to book again for next year.

Unbelievable location!

This house in one of the most beautiful places on the cape! .4 miles to newcomb hollow, near gull pond, secluded and quiet. The house is older than the pictures suggest, we had torrential rain and the roof leaked in a few places. The bathrooms are redone except for the showers. The mattresses left us all sore. The kitchen is very well stocked as far as cooking utensils and pots and pans and things. The screened in porch is an absolute oasis. The small "cabin" is really cute, the outdoor shower has no walls, just a spout outside but it looks into the woods. All in all we had a great time there, the location can't be beat.

Great Location

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We loved the quiet location in the woods. A ramble through the woods brought us to Newcomb Hollow beach in less than ten minutes. The little cottage was a bonus for our 18 year old who loved the privacy. Our dog would give it six stars if possible. Clean, comfortable and rustically stylish with plenty of room both indoors and out. Would love to see an outdoor shower added to the main house. We are looking forward to a return visit!

Property was not ready when we arrived

Our arrival was Sunday, 6/10/18. The entrance door was left open and the grounds surrounding the house were completely overgrown. The grass was higher than the charcoal grills in the yard and could not be used. A grounds person showed up on Thursday, 6/14/18, mid morning. He was so frustrated with the state of the grounds, he expressed the need for a grounds keeping team rather than one person trying to make an overgrown property presentable while tenants were present. Not a fair situation for him to be in at all. As for the house itself, it was supplied as indicated in instructions, but was in need of insect removal. Ants in most every room and many spiders. I also put a deposit of $100 for a dog to join us on vacation and asked for a refund, as we did not bring a dog. The refund never actually processed. We left the property in far better condition than we found it. I realize it was the beginning of the season, but for people to want to return, the property needs attention. I and my family rent houses for vacation regularly and felt misled and disappointed when we arrived. I communicated with the property manager upon arrival and departure with some concerns regarding refrigerator and trash. I recommend VRBO doing a better job by actually knowing the property they advertise and make sure it’s more than adequate before guests arrive.
