We were visiting someone in DC and Candlewood came up as a decent price relatively close-by. About a 20-25 minute drive from DC, it fit the bill. Staff was super-friendly, concerned and courteous, however, the front desk team was either new or on loan from another property. I would likely return, but to the owners, please consider making Marvin or Patrick your permanent General Manager for that location. There were some maintenance issues during our stay, but apparently no regular maintenance tech was assigned to the property so they were backlogged. The property was clean, rooms were spacious (although our 2-queens room may have been 2-doubles. Beds were comfy. Larger than compact refrig/freezer (just shy of full size), dishwasher, 2-burner stove, microwave all included. Free laundry was cool and readily available with 3 pairs. Workout facility looked ample and clean. Pantry was available and reasonable. Only real issues were: Availability of hot water. Took awhile and was not steady. (305 & 306) Room heater/ac. Thermostat on wall gave no reaction to unit unless on Emergency Heat setting (305) Insulation in walls seemed thin. In context, outside temps never got above 20 degrees during our stay. These may have been maintenance issues that will be repaired once tech shows up or result from extreme cold.
We selected this hotel because it was perfectly situated for our visit to Mount Vernon (very easy 10 minute drive). The staff were super welcoming and even helped us figure out how to use the Lyft app to book a ride to and from our dinner in old Alexandria (we did NOT want to do anymore driving once we arrived). Our room was great. We had a full kitchen (didn't need a full kitchen, but wow!). Everything in the room worked well. We were able to have a hot shower with plenty of towels, heat and tv worked well. The parking lot was easy to access, the elevator worked well, they had a 'pantry' area off the lobby where you could buys food items and even borrow a board game or a blender. We would stay again if we visit the area.
I love this hotel because it’s clean and quiet. Staffs are friendly i stayed at this hotel a lot and don’t have no complaints of any kind. Trust me you will love this hotel. Laundry and gym room is super clean. Snacks are too much money doe so if I’m you buy your own snack at the store and save. Internet is also fast. I know how important internet is to people traveling for business.
My wife and I stayed at this hotel during a Thanksgiving visit with my sister and family. Fantastic location......great rooms......excellent staff. I couldn't have been more pleased with this hotel! Quiet location, very clean......easy access to the area.
We stayed here for 4 nights and found this to be very clean, and close to many things in the area. They allow pets for a fee and have a kitchen and wifi...so it helped when we didn't feel like leaving for dinner to grab something easy and stay in. This didn't have trailer parking which after this trip I am seeing is important but they were very accommodating until we could figure out what to do with our trailer. I would highly suggest staying here if you need a longer stay. No Pool or breakfast but they do have free Landry which to me was more important for our stay.
Probably the worst stay I've ever had at a Candlewood Suites. They charged the same as other hotels without providing all the amenities (I.e.) breakfast and pool. Beds were really bad for my back, hotel was noisy, one of the other guests had two small dogs that barked most of the night, and parking is very limited and not conducive to trailer parking. I would not recommend any military stay here during PCS, it's not the best option in the area. What's good...Rooms are ok with most having adequate space. We stayed in a double queen with our two kids and it was sufficient for our needs. The rooms were clean with no unusual smells. However, the pantry did not have anything we wanted and was under stocked. Bring your own food/snacks/drinks.
I was down at Mount Vernon for a Revolutionary War event and our unit was booked at the Candlewood Suites Alexandria for the weekend. Some of the advance party had reservations and arrived fairly early (1:30 Pm) and we were given our rooms immediately. Just one problem. My A/C in my room did not seem to be working. It was making a horrendous noise. I went down to the desk and they immediately switched my room. I had a queen bed and the room was spacious. Nice furniture, including a really comfortable lounge chair and the kitchen area was well appointed with everything you needed if you ate in your room and some. The bathroom was also roomy, but I would have liked a few more shampoo and soaps. One tiny portion was not enough. But the rooms were quiet, the bed was comfortable and the price we got was exceptional for the area.
Trenton Bourgeois was the best staff of any hotel i had ever met! It was clean, comfy, homey, the only bad thong was tht there was a broken handle to a drawer bt tht was the biggest con, which as you can see was not small at all. Bt all around this hotel was absolutely amazing. Thank you for making our stay 10/10!
Booked this hotel on points, and was not disappointed. Very nice room, large with kitchen facilities. No restaurant on site, but many are close by. Very friendly and helpful staff. Free parking, which is nice in the Washington area. Very close to Mount Vernon, and the Amtrak Auto-Train station in Lorton.
This hotel is very clean and I received very warm smiles, the hotel had a scent of pure relaxation. When I signed in the gentleman(Christian Hawks) was that all my needs had been met and Mr. Hawks made sure my room was perfect. Close to Ft. Belvoir and nice eatery's around the area as well.
