This Nice has been located in an ancient 17th century jesuites Chapel, arches , stairs and scuptures in lime stones are all around and give a definite charm to the place. Standards rooms are newly furnished modern and clean and so are the bathrooms. The hotel is central, easy to find and close to the main sites to visit in town. Personnel is friendly and helpful. Forget about the modern elevator better use the stone staircase it is awesome !Don't miss it.
I booked a double bed with a balcony. I didn’t get a balcony. My room had one small window to open for fresh air. I like it cold when I sleep. The bed is upstairs with no windows, so my one little window downstairs didn’t keep my room cool. I was hot all night. The bed was like a rock and very flat pillows. Needless to say, I did not sleep well. My friend across the hall came to visit and have some wine. No real chairs in the room. I had 2 stools. Not comfortable. Positives were the kettle in the room, but only 2 coffees and 2 creams. The chapel itself is interesting looking. You need to resign into the WiFi every time you put your iPad down. You can pull up to park, but parking is down the street in public parking. Good location. For the price, it’s overrated.
We stayed one night en route fro Madrid to Calais. The hotel was easy to find and we were directed to a local car park which has an arrangement with the hotel. The building is a converted chapel and adjoining building tastefully done up. It is in the centre of town. We did not eat in the restaurant but that was clearly busy. Would stay again.
The hotel personnel, Michel and Marie-? we're very helpful. Les Archives waitress Ihsen (sp?) was very thoughtful, friendly, and efficient. The restaurant was excellent but one should reserve to be assured of a place.
We stayed for one night here and two nights in the Hotel Europe (see the separate review). The Mercure is a nice hotel but not four stars and not worth the price we paid. In a very pretty building (an old church). Reception is friendly (they helped with the suitcase). Room was fine but quite bare and again not what you would expect for this price. Nice bathroom with toiletries, etc. It did have a kettle and tea/coffee but no proper cups. All very clean. It’s a good location (in the town centre, but it feels slightly out of the way – is particularly close to the station) and the room was very quiet. A perfect satisfactory option. However, they either need to drop their prices or improve their offering.
Unusual experience, at least in continental Europe, where religious buildings are seldom turned into restaurants or hotels (actually both in this case, a restaurant, Les Archives, being set on the ground floor of the hotel). But quite successful, the architects in charge knew their job. On the whole, a flawless hotel : top location (at walking distance from everything), comfortable rooms, professional and smiling staff. Perhaps one suggestion for further improvement : the breakfast buffet could offer less cakes and more vegetables. In any case, we will visit again, for sure !
One night in Poitiers and would certainly return to city and this hotel. Centrally-located, easy to walk to all attractions and rail station. Friendly staff. Good-sized room with shower room at window, lovely touch.
Excellent location, right in the city centre, with underground secure parking. The style is a bit 'dated' but it goes with the style of the building and was spotlessly clean. Room had a lovely terrace to sit in the sun. Service from reception team and at breakfast was much better than we had experienced at other French hotels whilst on our 2 week road trip.
We stayed for three nights and our room wasn't cleaned once. The staff were so rude and unhelpful. When I complained that our room hadn't been cleaned they just made excuses instead of apologising or fixing the problem. They really don't care about their guests.
We stayed here for three nights last week. Unusual building makes this a great choice from more bland city centre hotels. Our children had a twin bedded room which was spacious with a very good bathroom. Ours was a double with a rather curious arrangement of a shower and washbasin in one corner and a separate toilet at the other side of the room in what we originally thought was a cupboard! This made for an interesting excursion should you need the loo in the night as you had to visit the cupboard then make your way across the room to wash your hands! Not helped by there being a step in the room just outside the loo, so doing this in the dark was fraught with hazards! That aside, the hotel is pleasant, breakfast was quite nice, although they kept running out of items, which then took a long while to replenish! Reception staff varied greatly. Once again, pleasant, but not exactly an enthusiastic welcome. Overall this was fine as a base but the double room was a disappointment.
