Excellent!!! Great location! Very nice. Staff is very helpful and the Spa is great also.

A very special hotel in a very special setting. For the price, however, the rooms are simply mediocre (I had a nicer room at the Hotel Grand Pacific down the road just two months prior) . The bar, high tea in the lobby lounge, and restaurant were all 5 star with service to match. After such extensive renovations however, we were expecting more from the room in terms of comfort and ambience. The bathroom was cramped but clean. The beds were very comfortable but the window was tiny and there was no fridge in the room. There was no dresser either, just an awkward ottoman with two tiny drawers. The pool, hot tub and change rooms exceeded expectations. We'd stay here again, but we'd probably upgrade to a better room (we were in Deluxe with 2 Queens).

Loved the location and overall experience. Had to deal with a rude staff over the phone, but other than that it was all excellent.

The hotel is very old and outdated. The room was uncomfortable. We were forced to use window fans. The rooms have no air conditioning. It was a lot of money for what we received. Meals at the hotel were outragiosly expensive.

Stayed two nights for our 20th wedding anniversary and it was amazing. The staff was top notch and the food was supreme. We will be back next year

There was no air conditioning in my room. Windows open about 4" for ventilation. Was quiet at night at back of property, but could hear the seagulls in the morning. I'm used to a cooler room in August, but was manageable...you are right on the water. Great central location and lovely property. Don't miss the whale watching tour...I saw orcas with Prince of Whales...just across the street.

We updated suite with additional $50/per due to no AC standard room. Nice and clean suite. Walking distance, friendly staff.

They made our anniversary very special. They staff was very friendly.

right on the harbor and in walking distance to lots of sightseeing

Went to Victoria precisely for the Fairmont Empress and Butchart Gardens. Happy with the experience.

I believe the hotel is in a fantastic position. Unfortunately, it is highly overrated for the price compared to the service and is full of tour groups that I am sure are not paying as much as I paid. I still love the old world charm of the hotel and would stay there again.

IT WAS NICE TO BE THERE WITH MY FAMILY ON CHRISTMAS.

This is one of my favorite hotels! It's absolutely beautiful inside and out, and the grounds are beautiful, with colorful flowers everywhere. We stayed here for our honeymoon 30 years prior and returned for our 30th anniversary. Just as beautiful as I remembered. Staff was awesome! We ferried over from Vancouver and arrived about 10:30 a.m. Even though check-in time was not until 4:00 pm, they let us in our room when we arrived. If you want to feel spoiled and valued as a customer, check into this hotel.

Very convienience location with perfect view from the room and the dinning. The hotel building itself is a piece of art!

Best location, but really too old, better to have an afternoon tea in the hotel but not living there.

Great location and easy access to all Victoria has to offer.

Amazing hotel, great location, friendly, helpful staff: a lovely experience. Will go back soon.

Hotel location was great as it was close to everything downtown. Of important note, the hotel does not have air conditioning--making for a couple of really warm nights but thankfully it Victoria cools down at night so you can open a window.

The location of the hotel is super convenient . If you want to take CVS city tour, the pick up stop is in front of the hotel. The room is nice although a little bit old. Staff is nice. The heater was broken in our room, they sent someone to check immediately and offered to move us to another room right away. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The empress is an impressive building situated in the heart of Victoria, Beautiful!!

I apologize that your stay was not as anticipated and that your room was uncomfortable. Please always ask for a room move and if we can accommodate we certainly will do so. We will be complete with all of our renovations in June 2017 at which times all of our guest rooms will have been updated and installed with air conditioning. I do hope we will be able to have you stay with us again once complete. Sincerely, Indu Brar, General Manager
