The apartment was fairly described on the VRBO site. If anything it was more beautiful than the pictures reveal as stepping out on the balcony gives a beautiful view of the canal behind La Fenice, and by just poking your head out of one of the bathrooms and bedrooms, you see another. It is so close to the Rialto, the Accademia, and San Marco as well as Sant'Angelo vaporetto stop to hop across the canal, yet is very quiet. Tourist guides use the well in the charming campiello on which it sits to talk about theatre in Venice. The only thing to be aware of is that because it is an old building you do sometimes hear the footsteps from the apartment above(as the one below may have heard ours), but I believe that the VERY responsive management might address that with a carpet.
