This was a really unique hotel for us, maybe not so much for Venice. It is a really old building, but has obviously been updated. Our room was great, easily the biggest we stayed in while in Italy. Hotel is Located really close to a bus station and small plaza full of restaurants. It is a hike to most of the popular tourist attractions in Venice, but we got to see a lot of the city. Hotel was quiet and offered decent breakfast. One odd thing is that they ask for your room key when every time you leave, we had never experienced that. And FYI no elevator. Overall we really enjoyed our stay here.
The building is quite old, but the rooms are comfortable and clean, with fairly modern, but basic amenities. I would not recommend this hotel for individuals with physical disabilities. The staff were very friendly, efficient and accommodating. The included breakfast was typical of Italy, offering dry cereals, pastries, fruit, juices, tea and coffee. The location was quite convenient for walking all over Venice, and the water taxi from the airport dropped us off within 50 meters of the hotel, but that accessibility by water is subject to variable water levels.
Enjoyed three nights here while visiting Venice. Quietly located on a canal in a less-busy neighborhood, yet close to a myriad of restaurants, shops and piazzas. You can rent a gondola ride just down the street and water taxis a bit further down. Our room was clean and very comfortable and there was a mini fridge, as well as coffee/tea service, in the room. Staff was friendly and helpful.
We enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Pausania Hotel. The staff were all extremely helpful, friendly and accommodating, which we really appreciated and which definitely helped our trip feel even more special. The hotel is comfortable and clean and has an excellent location, which is peaceful yet near enough to all the major attractions that you can easily walk there. It is also near to some great restaurants and bars, which we really enjoyed. Thank-you to all the staff who work very hard, we really enjoyed your hotel.
We stayed at the Pausania for 3 nights in February. I could not imagine a better location. It is on a quiet canal in Dorsoduro - I would always prefer this area or San Polo rather than the noisy and crowded San Marco area. However it is also five minutes FLAT walk (no bridges!) from Ca Rezzonico pier which has a direct boat service to the airport. At the same time, there are plenty of local cafes, restaurants and shops and it is a short walk to the centre. The hotel is in an ancient building and you enter through a small attractive courtyard (currently under refurbishment). All the rooms and the public areas are exquisitely decorated and furnished. The welcome was warm and the service impeccable at all times. The breakfast has everything you can ask for although some eggs would have been nice. Our room was attractive, clean and comfortable - however it had no window (just a skylight) and minimal storage - just one wardrobe and the bathroom also very cramped. This is the only reason for not giving an Excellent rating. For what we paid however this was incredibly good value and we would stay there again.
Excellent hotel in an old palazzo, retaining all of its historic charm, but clean, comfortable, with friendly staff and good value for money in a charming quarter of Venice. The rooms have period features, painted ceilings with cherubs, Venetian glass chandeliers, but modern facilities. Near San Barnaba, and San Margherita, both lively squares, full of bars and restaurants, and also within easy walking distance of the Rialto and the Accademia. It is in a quiet location, has a breakfast room next to the garden, offering a very good buffet breakfast, and a small cosy bar.
In the middle of one of the Venetian residential neighbourhoods, in a C14th Palazzo. Well located for San Marco and the Rialto and near many local gems. Nice service, not modern which is a plus - thank you, would certainly return.
This is a 3 star Hotel, but has the comfort, cleanliness and friendliness far in excess of some hotels with a higher rating. We were on a 3 night package with BA flights at a very good rate, but believe the Pausania to be excellent value if booked directly. It is located in a quiet spot, but only 25 mins from St Marco, 20 mins from Rialto. Good quality linen, towels and in room facilities, and a very nice continental breakfast served in pleasant surroundings.
A great small hotel in a very interesting area of Venice. Within walking distance of many attractions and close to a variety of places to eat and drink the wine. The hotel is in a converted ‘villa’ Old and overlooking one of the smaller canals.
I stayed at the Hotel Pausania first for a business meeting, then my family joined me for a three-plus-day vacation. My single room on the ground floor was comfortable. Our family room on the first floor had sufficient space for three adults and one teenager. Both rooms were comfortable, but I advise asking for one of the rooms in the 200 range, since they are adjacent to a lovely lounge area. The neighbourhood is a quiet one (for being in Venice), and the hotel is close to the Ca' Rezzonico stop on the Alilaguna Orange line from the airport. It is walking distance to several nice restaurants, shops and even a small supermarket for the items you may have forgotten. Breakfast is pretty typical, with rolls, fruit, yogurt, cereal, cheese and meats. The staff serving breakfast was always very friendly. The hotel has a three-star rating, which is about where I would put it. This is not the poshest hotel around, but comfortable and worth the price. Being in a palazzo gives it a lot of charm compared with a generic 4 star hotel. I would stay there again.
