Airone Hotel2.0 out of 5.0

Stayed for 2 nights in December 2017. We knew this was a budget hotel, but we didn't realize we would be staying in a construction zone. Some of the rooms were under construction for the duration of our stay - with workers coming in and making noise as early as 8am. They also turned off the water and we were not able to shower one of the days we were there. It's definitely a budget hotel, the common spaces were filled with random debris and were unusable. Only good thing was the breakfast.
My wife and I booked a last minute, cheap getaway to Venice and Hotel Airone came up as the cheapest acceptable option for our stay. We weren't expecting much but sadly came out a little disappointed. Firstly, the positives, the hotel is fabulously situated along the Grand Canal, 5 minutes walk from the bus / train stations and near to some lovely restaurants. The rooms were a good size and the service was great. Check-in / out was at the nearby Hotel Canal and was very straightforward. Sadly, the condition of the room left a little to be desired. I would recommend getting up early to take a morning shower, 10.30am was a bit too late as there was no hot water left, so definitely shower at night if you don't plan on getting up early. Some of the power outlets in the room had seen better days, the one was very loose. The window in our bathroom was cracked and also difficult to reach to close. This wouldn't be a problem, however it was very cold overnight so closing the window became a necessity. The hotel was also undergoing renovation at the time of our stay. This meant that there wasn't any availability for breakfast. This wasn't a huge problem, though it wasn't clear whether an alternative arrangement was available at the time. Lastly, the doors / walls were very thin and we were awoken a few times by other guests talking in hallways and closing doors loudly. Overall I would recommend the hotel if you're travelling on a budget or need something conveniently located to transport hubs for a short trip. Just know that you get what you pay for here.
Located 5 minute walk from the bus and train station, was perfect when we got to the city a little after midnight and its right on the canal!! Late check in was quick and easy in a neighbouring hotel. Stayed one night before moving to a more central hostel, although if it wasnt booked we might have stayed at hotel airone for the whole trip. Room was basic, clean and spacious. Sink in room. Shared bathrooms were as clean as would be expected. We had a back room which was very quiet at night. We didnt recieve any information about breakfast which from reading other reviews is served at the hotel where we checked in, but plenty of cafes close. Water taxi stops close. Would stay again
Some years ago, I also stayed with my family at this hotel. The good impression I had, made me choose it again for my stay in Venice. The location is excellent, as it's in front of the train station and the grand canal. The building is quite old-as many in Venice- but its location is really unbeatable. It's a good choice for tourists that want to explore all day long magnificent Venice and have a nice and comfortable stay. The price is excellent and the staff very gentle. The reception is in the hotel "Canal & Walter", which is besides Airone. The breakfast is also served there. The only disadvantage is the not free of charge Wi-fi.
If it is all about location, then this hotel may suit. If you want comfort, cleanliness and a bit of luxury, keep walking! Our room was so bad as to be funny really, but we only used it when sleeping. The breakfast which is just up the road at their other hotel was pretty good value.
In Venice, it's all about the location. Let me be clear: I choose to sacrifice luxury in the room itself in exchange for a terrific location and view of the grand Canal. That being said, there was nothing wrong with the room. It was small but clean. It was plenty big enough for me and my luggage. I only stayed one night so it was all about the convenience of location – the view of the canal right from the window was icing on the cake. The bathroom was in the room, not down the hall, but it was a combination toilet and shower -- like you have on a boat or something. Essentially that means that after you shower, most of the bathroom, toilet, and sink are wet. Because I only stayed one night, I did my shower at the end of my stay, so it wasn't a big deal. Again, if you're looking for a four-star hotel, this is not the place. But if you want to spend the night over looking the grand Canal, this works great.
It is too expensive for its service. I booked a room for two people but there is four beds. The window cannot be closed because of the pipe of air conditioner. There is only one outlet in our room and no lift, no dryer in the bathroom. When I reserved this hotel on internet, I am told this is a 3-stars hotel, but it's not. Actually, it shares reception with the other hotel which is called Canal and is a 3-star hotel.
We were in Venice recently and stayed at the Airone for one night , the hotel is perfectly located on the Grand Canal , rooms were clean and comfortable. Mosquitoes are a bit of a problem but the hotel provides a repellent that you can plug in! The shared shower was a bit tricky but not unbearable. It was quiet and very peaceful! Check in is at the Hotel Canal next door , the staff are very friendly! Tourist tax is two Euro per person that you have to pay when you check in! Breakfast is also served at the Hotel Canal which was amazing! Scrumptious cakes and divine croissants! Hotel staff once again very friendly and accommodating! No issues with pigeons whatsoever! Best thing about the hotel is it is very close to the People mover which takes you straight through to the Cruise Terminal , perfect for cruisers! ;-)
I traveled to Venice alone but found a family at the Hotel Airone. The staff was so helpful from finding water taxi to my wifi. Continental breakfast in the morning was wonderful. I felt very safe and my view from my room was beautiful overlooking the canal. The room was very basic, common for Europe. But who stays in their room where you have a terrific city like Venice to venture out in. I will differently stay here the next time I go to Venice.
The hotel is very basic, only advisable if you are going to spend very limited time in the room. But the location is excellent and the views over the grand canal really charming. Considering prices inside Venice, I would repeat.
