Lord Stanley was the perfect spot to base our short stay in Vancouver. It was so convenient for access to Stanley Park and we loved being on a quiet, residential street away from the crowded tourist areas. The staff was very friendly especially the gentlemen that were at the front door greeting us as we went in and out. Our room faced right out into the park which really was nice and gave us the chance for great sunrise pictures. I would give it 5 stars if they just offered a bit more variety on their breakfast. Perhaps some cheese and/or meat to go along with the breads would be nice. At least they did have yogurt though. All in all we loved the place though and would come back.
The suite facing the lagoon and Stanley park was excellent, with good cleaning service and spectacular view. A bit warm under the afternoon sun, compensated by an extra ac unit. Good bedding. Complimentary breakfast very basic. Good parking for a limited 20$ per day. We enjoyed our stay
As serviced apartments go the unit was tidy if a little cramped, but aren't they all in expensive City locations! The location within a few hundred yards of Stanley Park and the waterfront made it an ideal best for us. To dine in the apartment would have been 'tight' but there are one or 2 top class eateries on the side streets nearby. The inclusive breakfast is very basic and having disposable cutlery and dishes says it all. The location is the selling point.
My family was on a cruise that ended in Vancouver and I convinced everyone we had to spend the night to take in this gorgeous town. We booked 3 rooms at the Lord Stanley, and you can't beat the location and the price. The suite I was in was quite comfortable although a little dated, but with the view we had of the harbor, who's looking at the furniture! The gentlemen at the front desk were extremely helpful when we needed to store our luggage before check-in time. My husband and I stayed at the Westin (also almost adjacent to Stanley Park) and it is quite nice, of course, but so much more expensive and without the kitchen and separate office and living area. I strongly recommend the Lord Stanley!
We had asked for a low floor as i am scared of heights and we got the second floor ,very pleased with the excellent service that we received .The lady on the desk when we arrived for very helpful and the suite was very clean and just what we needed for our stay .would recommed this hotel
Stayed here for 2 nights before going off on a 4 day trip around the Rockies. Checked in reasonably late as Vancouver Airport had a technical issue meaning our bags didnt turn up for nearly 2 hours after we landed. Brian on reception met us with a huge smile, warm welcome and a huge amount of enthusiasm (a lovely man). This was pretty much the tone for all the staff we met who were welcoming and helpful. Apartment was a one bedroom with a study that had a covertible fold down bed - more than functional with a small kitchen and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was included and whilst only a buffet style the quality and quantity available was great. Great location with an easy 15 to 20 minute walk to dowtown Vancouver and an easy walk to Stanley Park. For the price this was a great little place to stay and happy to recommend.
We spent a very pleasant week in a 5th floor apartment whilst exploring Vancouver. The apartment had an old (but fully working) washing machine and tumble dryer which meant we could bring less clothes on the plane. The complimentary breakfast was very good. We also used the kitchen in the apartment to prepare a few simple meals after a hard day's sightseeing. The hotel is few minutes walk from Stanley Park which is well worth exploring. In the other direction it is about a 20 minutes walk to the centre of Vancouver along the seawall, which has great views over the bay. On a couple of occasions we caught a bus from nearby into the city centre instead, but usually preferred the walk. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, arranging a taxi to the station when we left.
Enjoyed our 4 day stay here. Apartment was lovely. Even though we went for the cheapest option, the apartment was bright, light and airy, spotlessly clean and spacious. The Danish pastries at breakfast were lovely. Bit of a shame that disposable cutlery and plates are used at breakfast but I suspect they don’t have the full kitchen or catering facilities otherwise. I was a bit concerned that the apartment might be too far from the city centre, but it’s so close to the waterfront that we didn’t really bother with going into the centre but stayed mostly on the waterfront itself. Great location too for bike hire.
Lord Stanley Suites on the Park We booked simply because of the price and a reasonable rating. We were let down at the last minute by an Airbnb no show at 8.50 pm. Please take care with Airbnb, they look after hosts not their customers from whom they gain the revenue. The Lord Stanley were quick to check us in. The Lord Stanley is old, clean, has a double bed not Queen. It does have a kitchenette, washing machine, an office/study??? and a portable air conditioner in the main area. Breakfast is included. The breakfast was quite generous in a North American way- not hot b&e but cereal, hot waffles toast, yoghurt and pastries- I have no complaints. I guess you get value for money, we went for a lower price than the average in downtown Vancouver. Would I stay here again - only if it was 9pm at night with other hotels booking out and your Airbnb host does a runner. The location is close to public transport and the staff were very good with instructions and re-stocking breakfast needs. The location is also “safe”. I would avoid anything near Chinatown
Our family of 4 (2 small children) visited Vancouver and stayed at the Lord Stanley Suites for 7 nights. We had read several reviews about the dated furniture and spartan breakfast so none of that surprised us. Overall we were pleased with the experience. Here are the things to be aware of: 1. The room is small. It was adequate for a family of 4 but there wasn't much room. That is Vancouver though. I saw the rooms at the Buchan Hotel and they were even smaller. You would fit a family of 4 using the queen bed and a sofa bed. The queen bed was decent and the sofa bed like most are not the most comfortable but the kids are used to it. 2. There is a washer and dryer in apartment which helps you need to bring less. 3. It is located on a street that feeds into the Lost Lagoon of Stanley Park. You can walk there in 1 min. You are about a 30 min walk from Vancouver City Center Station. If coming from the airport and you have manageable luggage, I would take the Skytrain and switch to a bus (5 stops) over to the bus stop on W Georgia and Gilford (buses 240 and 250). 4. There is breakfast provided every morning. They have coffee, juices, and a variety of breads. No meats or eggs. 5. Very close to a Safeway for anything you have forgotten to bring. 6. Staff was helpful.
