On my first trip abroad for New Year I was apprehensive about my stay in Valencia. On arrival we were greeted by a welcoming smile from the receptionist. He dealt with our check in promptly and with courtesy. Our room could be considered basic by some, however I was more than happy with its facilities. The room and bathroom was clean and tidy. The bathroom had a hairdryer and toiletries provided with copious towels. A bonus was the aircon and the fridge. Snacks and drinks can be purchased from reception 24 hours a day. Breakfast was nicely presented in the dining room with a fine selection of teas and coffee and assorted fruit juices. The buffet was continually replenished by the highly efficient waitress. Yes it's a cold buffet but there's a wide selection of meats to choose. The hotel is ideally located to visit both the marina and the historic old town. We were keen to see much of the area and the staff helped us plan our days. Transport either by the metro, buses or taxis is cheap and highly efficient. With plenty of restaurant surrounding the hotel it really is easy to get many types of fare. We used the Lizarran restaurant supplying Spanish tapas or other dishes. The social hamburger with house relish was a treat. The portion size was excellent and freshly cooked to order. The New Year celebrations in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento was spectacular. The light and sound show was fantastic. The Policia Local were visibly present and very helpful and ensured everyone was kept moving and safe. The atmosphere at the celebrations was reassuringly happy and friendly. The firework display at midnight brought huge cheers in appreciation of the splendour. My first trip to Valencia yes!, it'll certainly not be my last
Entrance looks good, service is fine. Only a few rooms with a view. Stay away from the x05 room, especially 105. This one is next to a cleaning room and next to the restaurant. Very noisy. Avoid the double beds if you don't want to bounce all night when your partner moves. Asked for a roomchange with sinle beds which I got the next day. Bathrooms are however in need of some serious chalk cleaning.
when we arrived on the Sunday things were not good as only reception staff on duty. However, when the manager came on duty on Monday he took swift action to make things better than we expected. lovely to be listened too and have someone action the issues. the breakfast was surprisingly good for a small hotel - not a cooked breakfast but a good selection of rolls, drinks etc and staff were very helpful.
Had vacation scheduled in september 2017 for 2 rooms. Sadly after 2 days of a 16 day vacation I had to return to USA due to the death of my brother. My children continued and the hotel was very helpful in all arrangements. Of 7 hotels this was the ONLY hotel who showed some compassion and refunded us for the second room.
At the last minute we added an infant to the booking and the hotel accomodated this as well as providing a cot. Many thanks to Pablo for arranging this. The hotel is in a good location near the beach as well as the old town. Nearby there are places to eat and drink and its worth while exploring the side streets as there are many places to be found. I would not hesitate to come back here again. The daily housekeeping was exceptional and of a very very high standard. Congratulations to the housekeeping team.
I stayed at Hotel Villacarlos for 2 days in August 2017 and was incredibly disappointed with every aspect of my stay. The first room I was given upon arrival signified what was to come - the AC unit in the room was not working, leaving my room unbearably hot in the heart of the summer. Additionally, the room was dirty - I found hair clumped in the shower and in the bed. After complaining to the hotel staff (who did not believe that the hair was not mine), I was given a new room. Over the course of my two day stay, I found ANTS in my BED both days ... DISGUSTING!!! Not only were the two rooms dirty, but the hotel staff was less than pleasurable to deal with. When I needed a taxi, they refused to call me one and rather told me to stand outside and hail a cab myself. They also asked me to leave my hotel room key with them when I left the room - ABSOLUTELY NOT! This hotel was truly horrible and I would stay far away from it.
This hotel was not even three stars, I can't believe all of the good reviews on here. We get to the hotel and the air in our room wasn't working and there were dust balls of hair along the floor. The sheets on the beds (we requested a king and had gotten two doubles) were all ripped up. When I went down to the concierge to ask for a cab, the woman at the front desk told me that I had to wait on the side walk and get one myself. It took me about 25 minutes to get a cab, something they could have easily called ahead for. Not to mention, the location of this hotel is horrible, about a 20 min drive to the city center as there are no shops, restaurants, or cafes near here. However, there are a myriad of car dealerships lined along the street in case you prefer to stroll along those instead.
The Villacarlos was just enough distance away from town to be able to walk back forward without taxis or transport.Turn left into town ,right to the modern science park .Staff great, breakfast good with adequate choice and a great view of the nouveau green building across the road. The only problem was at night there was nowhere close for a drink that resembled a bar.So don't race back stay out all night. We happened to be walking back on match night with the quietest well behaved supporters ever.Come on lads you need to be a bit more vocal. Would I come back?Yes just for the walk into town as the river makes the city what it is,unique and green and lush.
AC didn't work well at all. Given a fan still didn't cool the room off. The staff was terrible. They were not helpful at all 😡😡😡😡. Please choose another hotel. Take my advice don't stay at this hotel.
Good hotel for a city break, a bit difficult to find. Staff were friendly, rooms were good and clean. Valencia is a big city, so location is Ok, close by bus to main sightseeings. Would recommend for short stays.
