The entire visit was a unique experience. The hotel is housed in a beautiful heritage building which is well maintained by the HRH group. The Indian traditional style welcome, room with awesome view of Lake Pichola and Lake palace and the food at Sunset restaurant were excellent. The staff was very courteous and more than willing to answer our queries. We were treated like royalty. The museum and crystal gallery at the City palace are worth a visit. The premises itself needs two days of sightseeing to do justice to it. The boat ride in the lake at sunset time upto Jagmandir for tea/coffee break and live instrumental tabla with jal tarang made the trip relaxing.
This hotel uses pictures of their suites for the normal 'Dovecote' room. The rooms are large but of very poor quality, dirty walls, floors and tiny bathrooms. The staff, on complaining, did nothing to rectify our disappointment and openly admitted to using the wrong photos for the rooms. Views are, however, spectacular and the hotel is centrally located within the City Palace complex. There are better options in Udaipur, often for a cheaper price.
We had been to the Hotel during Dussera 2017. we are very please with the service provided by the staff. Mr Rahul was an excellent person. We had a bit of medical requirement and they were handled professional. i would recommend the hotel for Hospitality and the View//Location. Will definitely be visiting again. Regards, Jiten A.
Cordial warm check-in. Room was spacious with a very nice view of lake Pichola, hills and Lake Palace. Aroma of fresh roses everywhere inside the property was refreshing. Golf cart service is very good and convenient. You can walk or take free golf cart to City Palace. Walk to the ramp for a lovely boat ride on Lake Pichola to Jag Mandir. Breakfast at Sunset Terrace restaurant was good, dinner was fantastic with nice weather and wonderful view. Had Pav Bhaji one day for lunch and that was amazing. Very good experience.
I stayed at this place in room no 513. First the view and location of the hotel is just great, it brings peace in ur mind when u sit n watch the view. Second the hotel has 5 star staff they are so full of joy, understanding the needs of guest, courteous, supportive and above all provide the 5 star treatment to guest. Complimentary cake for my son's birthday celebration, a security people had band which played happy bday theme for his celebration just made vacation awesome n memorable. Lastly like to say thank you to the staff and keep up the good work. Nice place to visit, with view and ambience , n near to market. Will definitely visit again and recommend people to visit if u want nice view n awesome hospitality hotel.
Amazing place to be. View from the hotel room is just awesome. Special thanks to the staff for making efforts and fulfilling out request for lake view room. Location is great and all tourist spots within walking distance. Would love to come back again. Hotel is highly recommended.
I finally managed to travel to Udaipur and broke a jinx. I must say that Udaipur in itself was an eye opener, even for a well traveled person like me. Shimmering Lakes, Beautiful Palaces and it's amazing Temples, coupled with Countless Cobbled Narrow Streets and it's Tempting Bazaars make Udaipur, arguably one of the most mystically romantic destinations in the world. And here I was at Fateh Prakash Palace Hotel, transported into a different world, quite away from ours which one can only term as Royalty. After a very smooth check-in, I was provided complimentary wheel chair services and escorted by the hotel staff to the Dove Cote Room. The room was large by modern hotel standards and had a breathtaking view of Lake Pichola. Juxtapositioned between the old and the new, the room had a sense of freshness and was complete with all modern amenities which one would expect in any five star property. However, the one negative which I must highlight was that, despite requesting wheel chair access, the en-suite bathroom left much to desire. There were no grab bars to help and the bathing area was a marble tub, which made it extremely difficult and at times dangerous, for me to get into and out. A walk-in shower cubicle would have been the right thing but I guess that this is one of the downsides of staying in a palace converted into a hotel. I was later informed that the suites at the property have shower cubicles. The management should have highlighted this fact at the time of making the reservation or then provided me a complimentary upgrade. Other than that it was turning out one of the most memorable stays for me. The staff was extra careful and always ready to help. Be it pushing my wheel chair or giving an excellent room service. The front office too were very helpful too. Be it much needed advise or with making a reservation for dinner at a local restaurant. It would not be out of place to highlight that the General Manager of the Property, Mr. Vikram Singh Bhatti orchestrated my entire stay personally. From making my reservation to looking into my day to day needs, Mr. Vikram was always available. Thank You Sir! The property was huge but getting around was very easy as the hotel provided Golf Cart Services to all it's guests. So all it took was a minute and you were whisked away from the reception to the pool side on another part of the Palace or then to the Sunset Terrace for breakfast. The breakfast - I must add a comment on that too. It was a complete experience which missed out on nothing. One cannot compare it to the lavish spreads like those in Thailand or even the larger Indian Hotel Chains, but yet it had all the components which go into making a complete breakfast. Live egg counter, cold cuts and assortment of fresh fruits and beverages etc. were all there. But one did miss freshly made pancakes and waffles and also a cheese board amongst other things. I found the room service menu to be an expensive affair so I never ventured into eating any other meal at the property, other than the complimentary breakfast. Speaking of complimentary, I must talk about another one which the hotel gave me - the boat ride to Jag Mandir. It was just AWESOME! The calm lake with it's shimmering waves and sunset time make it a MUST DO for all travelers to this quaint old city. I will certainly return here again to explore more of what the city of Udaipur has to offer.
The hotel is certainly in a great location with great room views. We were 3 girls travelling from Delhi and was apprehensive of using the pool in Shiv Niwas Palace (as read in another review on Tripadvisor) and wanted to cancel our booking but we were ensured of safety. On arrival the hotel staff was courteous and even took that extra measure of upgrading us and giving us a great experience. In the evening we decided to use the pool in Shiv Niwas which is accessible with a hotel golf cart. However, after much assurance from the Fateh Prakash that the pool is open and great, when we arrived Shiv Niwas we realised that the pool was closed for the day for an event. Fateh Prakash manager Mr. Chaetarsal then offered us to make arrangements for a travel to Shikhar Badi and use their pool. Overall a good experience of staying in the City Palace though few things should improve.
A good heritage hotel built right in the city palace next to the royals.. Offer some well appointed up to date state of the art rooms and views. Though there was some inconvenience in reaching the hotel at a time when there was Jagannath yatra going on in the city but it was all compensated by the ambience of the hotel. One star less for the restaurant which could be better along with the breakfast spread that is being offered.
