Another great stay at Peppers :) .... staff soooo friendly and rooms really clean .... love the free in-house videos and lovely soft towels. Great spot for doing nothing to eating out and doing markets especially at end of month when Bangalow market is on. Looking forward to our next stay :)
My wife and I recently had a weekend getaway for two nights to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The location right near a patrolled beach makes it convenient for those wanting to take a dip in the waves. There are also plenty of good quality restaurants, shops and a tavern just a short walk away at Salt Village. Our package included the buffet breakfast at the resort's Seasons restaurant - a good selection of both hot and cold, though a limited selection of hot food for vegetarians (though we didn't ask, I'm sure it would be possible to request something). The room was adjacent to / overlooking the pool - 1 bedroom spa suite, very spacious and well appointed. About the worst we had in terms of noise was the odd "slamming" of doors (due to the auto closers) - generally very quiet rooms though. We decided on our way home to re-book a planned school holiday with the kids later in the year to Peppers Salt, so we are most definitely coming back!
I stayed here for a birthday party celebration and was surprised of our experience at this resort. I was told management had changed hands and as a consequence it reflected on our stay. Firstly the resort is nice enough for a pleasant stay however on a deeper note things are not always as they seem. The staff do appear friendly and helpful but somehow to our amazement our room didn't get cleaned for 3 days and we had to repeatedly call for serve. The bed felt so worn out and uncomfortable I would not like to know how old it is and how many people have slept in it. The pillows were seriously in appauling condition and unsupportive and too soft and had to order more. We had a coffee machine in the room that made cold coffee and was told by reception over the phone that is what it does!!!!! I had never heard such a ridiculous thing, furthermore nothing was done about it and that was it. I ordered a week coffee by the pool and used my milk as they had bitter soy milk available and they still charged me for it. On check out we still paid full price for service we didn't get and the worst bit was a slap in the face telling us that the cleaner missed our room because we didn't leave the sign outside the door when I know I personally did it myself. Disappointing to say the least. The theme and message is clear everything is great superficially but when things go wrong they don't take any responsibility and just don't care. Sorry I cannot recommend this resort.
This hotel has good rooms, a big pool which is unheated and a little one which is heated. you can't swim at the beach if there are jelly fish so the pools become really important. If it is high summer the temp of the big pool is fine but in the June months you'd need to use the much much smaller pool that is heated. We have been back twice and been happy, but this hotel needs to be more attentive to detail rather than just the numbers. We had requested a bright sunny from for our friends from England and they were given possibly the worst room in the complex. Luckily they were moved but only because we made a fuss and that was lucky as the place was very full. To the management - if a room is so dingy no one wants to stay there then don't use it for goodness sake! Why you would think anyone would want a tiny shared pool, we have no idea. This particular room is not a good seller as it also has a gigantic tree outside, blocking all the light and sun. Either give a small pool to one room or no pool at all. Why they were so incapable for looking after guests from such a far flung location I don't know. Like much of Brisbane and the gold coast, the food choices are pretty casual, you will find no haute cuisine and no real atmosphere in any of the restaurants. However, the Aveda Spa is absolutely fabulous. It is one of the best Spa's I have been to (and I go to a lot!). You could go to this without using the hotel too. If you get a good rate, I think you might have a fairly good trip here if you are just in search of some R and R.
Enjoyable getaway with lovely rooms and facilities. Pool always a bit cold. Fantastic restaurant on site and close to the beach and other restaurants. Staff are generally friendly. Beautiful location.
Rooms were clean, service was average, bedding was terrible. My dog has a better pillow than what was in my room. Location was great. Having secured parking definitely gave me confidence, though the parking spots are rather tight, i would have hated to park anything bigger than a medium sized car.
Peppers Kingscliff is pretty much what you expect from a resort type hotel. It has all the amenities you would expect, its clean, modern and comfortable. A feature we particualy liked was the beach style pool. We usually stay in self contained apartments wherever we go and sometimes hotels so staying here was something different for a change. Its located adjacent to Peppers more upmarket Bale resort and Mantra resorts which are much the same. There are a number of restaurants and cafes for a coffee fix and a few shops and supermarket located in the "Salt Village" so you have everything you need right on your doorstep. We never ate at the restaurants in the Salt Village so I can't comment on those other than to say one or two are particularly expensive but there are cheaper alternatives, but we preferred going into town for dinner. One particular aspect I liked was the ability to hire a bike and ride the bike trails up and down the coast. The only downside is that it is located just a little too far outside the town of Kingscliff. We went into town two out of the three nights we were there but found getting a taxi or UBER problematic. Few UBER drivers in the area and what taxis there are are very slow to arrive if they ever turn up. One suggestion for the resort would be to provide a shuttle bus into Kingscliff and surrounding areas, much like some surf clubs do in Queensland. But all in all we were really quite happy with the resort and plan to come back again.
We had a great time. Staff were wonderful. There could have been a few more lounges around the pool as it was difficult to get one with people reserving them all day. Two of the lounges were broken due to sun damage.
Overall, the experience was a very good one. The positives were plenty. The location is fabulous, right in the heart of Salt Village, so you don't need to leave the area if you don 't want to. The check in process was smooth and our room was pleasant. I strongly suggest that you get some training for your restaurant staff. We went to Season's four times. First time was for an after dinner drink, where we sat at our table for 15 minutes before someone came and asked if we had been served. The second time was at breakfast where there was a line up out the door, and not one staff member came and saw us for at least five minutes. The other two times were improved, but I would recommend some training on customer service be provided. If you do have dinner at Season, I highly recommend the Chateaubriand.
Traveled with Hubby and 3 year old and all had a great time. Enjoyed the facilities at the resort and nearby. Also loved spending time in nearby Kingscliff. So glad we booked and we will definitely visit again.
