This hotel is OK . Needs a serious upgrade (paint ;new , cleaner carpeting); but OK for an overnight stay . Beds were comfy, breakfast offerings were good .Thought it would be a little nicer bc a Wyndham property .
Wyndham should be concerned for their name and reputation being attached to this property. No only was our room dirty it was in need of many repairs. The reason we selected this property was because we were traveling with our dog and it met our requirements. We should have paid closer attention to the reviews. Most of them mirrored our comments and upon speaking to the General Manager who apologized and transferred blame onto the housekeeping staff it became clear that this has been an ongoing problem for some time. Doesn't somebody do room inspections. We realize this is not a 5 star hotel but this is beyond acceptable. It's a NO star! I have photos to share if anyone is interested.
We stopped here for one night, after a long day of driving. It had clean rooms, comfortable bed, and a good breakfast. I will say the breakfast area is small. We got there the same time as a family of six and there was no room to move around. We just had to wait to be able to fix a plate. The front desk staff, night and morning , were both very good.
Check-in staff was nice and accommodating. The lobby and common areas looked clean. Hotel access and room access were both very convenient for our stay in Tuscaloosa. I didn't get to see the breakfast offerings because I was in town for two days of meetings. The room left a lot to be desired. It was about 80 degrees at check-in, very dingy and smelled as though it had not been cleaned--visible shoe marks and gray spots throughout the bathroom. We received conditioner, lotion, and bar soap the first night and the tissue holder was empty, so I left a note and tip asking housekeeping for shampoo and tissues. We didn't receive any. Having a microwave, mini-fridge, and wifi was all nice. The bed was okay. The bedding left a lot to be desired. Why do so few places use actual blankets/comforters anymore? The layers of sheets are just not the same. The pool area looked nice, but it was a stormy two days.
The facility was clean and well kept. The king-size mattress was a bit worn, but OK. The only complaint was about the breakfast. I'm on a low carb diet and there was nothing we could eat at the free breakfast. It looked wonderful, though, so I'm sure everyone who could eat plenty of carbs enjoyed it. Very friendly front desk clerk.
We visit Tuscaloosa once a year to speak at the Southern Christian Writer's Conference, usually in early June. For the last four years, the sponsors put us up at the Baymont Inn & Suites. It's close to town. Very quiet as long as long as you get. On the front of the front building away from the pool. Be sure to get a warm cookie (or two) when you check in. Chandra was the Manager on Duty this visit and welcomed us back. Coffee is great though breakfast is better next door at the Waffle House.
Very debatable if we will ever stop again. Okay but you can pay a about $10 more and enjoy a hot fully prepared breakfast and comfortable beds across the highway. It was a bed to sleep in and adequate but I would pass on this hotel.
Room furnishings were older. Refrigerator vibrated. Housekeeping never cleaned coffee pot entire stay. Not a 5-Star hotel but acceptable at price charged.
There was hair hanging off the in room blow dryer - The bathroom faucet exploded with water every time turned on. The water would splash up and land in the single handle area where a cover is meant to be leaving a pool of water with dirt - Did not use microwave but had to listen to it tick all night since the timer wouldn't shut off - The AC sounded like an extremely loud engine starting. - Prices are increased in the college town during move out and move in times.
Hotel room (218 to be exact) was disgusting. Pubic hair was found all in the bed sheets and linens. Walls had been sprayed some kind of sticky beverage. Carpet next to bed was soaked with ???. My socks were soaked and black on the bottom after walking on the carpet in the room.
