The rooms were dirty. There were no amenities in the room. No pen, paper, or even a shower cap! To make matters worse there was little food choices available for room service on Thanksgiving day. Breakfast was so unorganized and the chairs were wobbly and filthy.
Great service amazing pool
They oversold and despite having a confirmed reservation for months, they could not honor the reservation. They offered to put us up at a property nearby which was clearly inferior. After substantial arguing, they agreed to put us up at the JW Marriott which was a great property but very far removed in location. Additionally, it took almost an hour for them to make these arrangements. Although they did provide complementary stay at the Marriott for us, it was a hassle that added ours to our trip. All they had to do was let us know either the day before or that morning and we would not of wasted time driving to their property and could’ve planned for something else ahead of time. Grateful for the complementary sweet but really poor management to allow this to happen.
We traveled with a 3-year old and specifically chose La Paloma because of its high family-friendly rankings. Some of the advertised amenities were good but others fell short. The room was big enough for the roll-away bed and safe for the kid. The in-room fridge was big enough for milk and snacks. The kid pool and slide were a big hit. However, the advertised child-care options did not exist. The Kids Club was closed for the summer and even the front desk didn't know this so our kid didn't get a chance to play with other kids during our stay. And no one was able to find the info about the in-room nanny service - we played phone tag with the front desk, the fitness center and the kids club and finally gave up on having a child-free fancy dinner. Otherwise, we had a great stay at La Paloma. The property is beautifully landscaped and (short of the out of place golfing green) fits in with the Sonora desert. The pool was great. Our room was quite a walk from the entrance but staff was accommodating with golf cart rides when we needed them.
The La Paloma Resort is our quick getaway go-to for any weekend or holiday. See ya next quarter!

The pool is great, and we really liked the Contigo Latin Kitchen. The staff were nice and accommodating. The area is close by other nice restaurants, in case you want to try other food away from the resort. The only issues that we had was that the bed was a little stiff, and the toliet seat was a little to high which made it uncomfortable. All in all it was a good stay, and i would recommend it to others for a special occasion.
I realize that staffing issues remain a challenge for resorts so with that in mind I'll be kind. The service staff that is working at the La Paloma is wonderful. There are not enough of them. Dirty room service plates and glasses were visible outside our room the entire time we stayed. ( Friday- Sunday.. and they were NOT our dishes) When we asked a cleaning gal about picking them up she apologized and finally took them??!! We "bussed" our own bar tables as there was not enough staff to stay on top of that. Our final morning on the patio having breakfast was the best (or worst) .... We were enjoying a leisurely cup of coffee / breakfast enjoying the view on our last morning when a group of 6 came out to have breakfast. A bus boy removed the umbrella that had been our shade and moved it to their table and left us in the sun ( too warm). My husband was furious with what happened but we decided to just leave as we had just finished our breakfast. Expectations run a bit higher at locations like this. Keep yours in check!

Beautiful property! Excellent hospitality. The access to the pool was a little frustrating. Hard to get a reservation at restaurants on site. Limited seating outside.

I will never recommend or stay at this hotel again. The swimming pools at the hotel were freezing. We chose this hotel for no other reason than relaxing and swimming at the pool, but the water was colder than any hotel we have ever been to. Also, the hotel had every entrance to the pool barricaded off so there were only two entrance points. These were manned by guards who searched your bags for any snacks of any kind. I brought my Yeti with coffee from the room, and was told I was not allowed to bring it into the pool area. Not because it was glass, bc it wasn't, but because it was an "outside beverage." I have never been to a hotel where you are not allowed to bring your own snacks to the pool. I consider what we paid for our room to be very expensive, and thought bringing our own snacks would save us money over ordering off the pool menu. In addition, our snacks were more healthy than the burgers and chicken fingers offered on the pool menu. I will never stay at this hotel again.
