One overnight in the center of the city with good car parking facilities. The restaurant opened extraordinary half an hour before due to our request. Thank you for this service. Our flight had early departure.
We stayed for 7 nights over Christmas. Very comfortable bedrooms, traditionally furnished, clean and well maintained. Not very festive in the reception areas, it has to be said, but the colours and furnishings are warm and welcoming. Hardly anybody staying here, which is a shame, but Alcamo is not really a tourist town, although it is pleasant enough, with better shops than we expected. The hotel restaurant is very good, we enjoyed all our meals here, and the Christmas Day lunch was excellent. The hotel offers fantastic value for money, and If I should return to Alcamo, this is where I would stay.
I stayed here a few nights while visiting the western coastal area of Sicily. The room they gave me was quiet, like I had asked. Location is perfect in Alcamo for city. There is a computer near front desk and staff will print boarding passes if you ask. The staff was very helpful and friendly with me during my visit. Breakfast was the only downside to this hotel. For a four star establishment I would expect a better breakfast arrangement with some fresh fruit, etc. But this is typical of the Italian style breakfast. However, even the brioches were plain and yogurt was warm. Other than that, the hotel is perfect and was well-priced.
This is a small, very friendly hotel in a typical Sicilian town. The hotel itself is fairly traditional and seems to cater mainly for local businessmen. As a group of tourists, we were not their usual customers. Alcamo itself probably doesn't receive that many international tourists. It is a great base for touring the west side of the island, but be warned, Alcamo itself has limited places to eat in the evening. The staff were fantastic and gave us plenty of advice and information, enabling us to make the most of our week. We speak no Italian, and they were kind enough to research and book a hire car for us and give advice on where to go. Thanks to the hotel staff, we were able to explore the west coast of the island and see some fabulous sights and the hotel was a great base for this. There is limited parking outside the hotel, but there are approx. 5 spaces reserved for hotel guests and we were able to park every night. Breakfasts were good and rooms were clean, quiet and spacious. We ate in the hotel one evening and had a very tasty meal at a reasonable price. Special thanks to Enza and Regina on reception, without whom our holiday would not have been as great as it was!
We stayed for 4 nights this October. The hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff were very helpful in assisting us with holiday advice , medical assistance and travel arrangements. Parking outside is possible in the reserved spaces but needs care and is easiest with a small car and low traffic flow up the narrow street. The region is wonderful for history, nature and food. We will visit again and explore more sites in the future. Definitely recommended if you want old world charm and real Sicilian hospitality.
Found this hotel on line as I was working in the area! The Staff, Room, Breakfast, in fact everything about this hotel is great and I cannot recommend it any better! The only thing that I found difficult was parking the car but this is to be expected in a city especially in Italy.
Not great Pool was not working and the staff didn't know when it would be. It is 30 degrees. The breakfast was nice but ran out and wasn't replenished Staff weren't helpful. I'm confused about other reviews here. We didn't have a car and wanted to do some tours and excursions. They didn't know about any of the leaflets and didn't offer to call them. Luckily we found our own around the corner from the hotel that was brilliant but this wasn't even offered as an alternative. There was no shuttle bus- it's a lie on the website. We asked to have our check out extended to 12 (it's 10am!) to make up for lack of amenities and they begrudgingly told us that 11am was ok. There was only 4 other guests. You need a car here or to book a tour. Although I wouldn't want to drive. Alcamo is lovely as is the surrounding area but don't rely on the service in the hotel. It's not a four star! Also it was our mini moon - which we had told them and they didn't even mention it. Normally hotels would make some effort there Love Sicily but not this hotel
We stayed at this hotel on holiday for four nights in May 2017. It's a typical small Italian hotel in a town centre location. Alcamo itself is a great location for visiting the historical and cultural sights in the Palermo/Trapani region. It's not touristy and has lots of local colour. It's about 30 mins drive from Palermo airport and easy to find. Our rooms were large, very clean and with comfortable beds. There were no tea/coffee facilities in the room so out came the travel kettle. There were no English language channels on the TV so out came the Amazon firestick. The wifi was free and reasonably good. The hairdryer was attached to the wall in the bathroom and pretty underpowered - took ages to dry my hair - bring your own if your hair requires more than a gentle blow. We ate in the hotel one night and it was very good, although very limited options for non-fish eaters. The staff were friendly and helpful at all times. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice of breads and cakes, yogurts, cheese and ham, although the cooked option (savoury omeletty thing - delicious) ran out by about 8am and didn't appear to be re-stocked. Great coffee. Our only problem was with the parking - we were driving a large hire car and had selected the hotel (using filters) on the basis that there was plentiful and free street parking available. In theory this was the case, but in practice the town centre streets around the hotel were so busy and jammed with cars 24/7 that you had to cruise around for quite a while (negotiating some tricky narrow streets and Italian-style parking) before finding a spot, which might be some distance from the hotel. The hotel does have three or four reserved spaces right in front of the hotel and we did manage to get one of these a couple of times (good parking skills demanded) but other times they were full. This did make coming back to the hotel each time a bit of a stressful experience. Not a lot the hotel can do about this but something that it's useful to know in advance. Interestingly, the busy streets didn't bring a lot of noise into the rooms, although they were on that side of the hotel - didn't hear the traffic at all. Also, it reflects the fact that the Hotel Centrale is truly 'centrale' - you can walk out of the hotel right into the middle of the town. Our other challenge was finding somewhere to eat in the evenings as there are a lot of bars but not many restaurants in Alcamo. We had some pizza in a nearby square one night and for our last night found 'Il Gattopardo' which was excellent (but is closed on Mondays).
Hotel Centrale is, as the name indicates, at the centre of the picturesque old town of Alcamo. It is a convenient place from which to visit Palermo and to get to the airport. The hotel is in an old building and finding some of the rooms off the winding hall may be a challenge. The rooms are simple but spacious and comfortable. The food is decent but not gourmet.
If you are in Sicily and take a tour of the island, in the north, near Palermo, it is Alcamo, a small and cute little town. Very close to the center, the hotel is built on typical Mediterranean architecture. Narrow halls alternate with spacious rooms and places. The height difference of spaces and the sinuos interior route can make it difficult for those who are not easy to orientate. The rooms look good but are less worked as a design than the common spaces. Breakfast is rich enough and you can order from the bar whenever you want, coffee and tea. One tip: Some rooms are darker, ask to see the room before you take it. Those with matrimonial beds are good.
