Hotel Villa Fontaine Tokyo-Jimbocho

It is near to subway, less than 100 m, and many points of interest can be easily reached in the city. The room is small, but clean. Provides slippers, yukata, toothbrush, etc. The staff speaks English, although the use of Japanese is preferred. It is not easy to find the location without a map. Even the hotel name outside is written in Japanese.

I needed a hotel near the Tokyo Dome area, and while this one is not super close, it's still within walking distance. The hotel is small but very practical, nice size room, clean, good bathroom with shower and bathtub, this was a non smoking room. Comfortable bed and helpful staff. The hotel is easy to miss, as it is on a side street. This part of Tokyo is easy to walk, with an old flavor and plenty of small restaurants. Train stations nearby, or you can make the 10 min walk to the Tokyo Dome station.

Clean (serviced daily). Everything works - hot, strong shower, a/c, wifi, etc. Nice toiletries. Heated toilet seat was a nice surprise. Great location - just a few minutes walk to Jimbocho station, which has great connections to most of the popular Tokyo sites. LOTS of restaurants (even some Western ones) within a short walking distance and these are very good and seem to be favoured by locals, which we found to be relatively cheaper. Although the staff had limited English, they were friendly and eager to help when needed. The room was however very small (to be expected I suppose) but it does take a big of getting used to (we stayed 6 nights, and near the end of it, we needed to keep moving stuff around), especially if you have 2 large suitcases. We didn't opt for breakfast, so can't comment on this.

Hotel is average, small rooms as is normal and easy to find when arriving into Tokyo. Had to travel to find well reviewed restaurants. Would only recommend for a few nights. Price seems reasonable for what you get. Tokyo is expensive for good hotels!

I booked this hotel for whole 6 nights, on Miles&More hotel web site because of a mileage promotion. It was a huge mistake, because the hotel is terrible, despite all the good reviews here. It was one of the few hotels where the booking was non refundable and now I understand why. And deeply regret booking it. Everyone is writing about good location but in Tokyo basically there is no such thing as bad location, unless you are somewhere very far away. There is no wifi connection in this hotel. They are blaming my mac but I just moved from another hotel where there was no problem to connect at all. This is the first hotel in Japan I experience such a problem. They are forcing me to use a cable to connect to the internet but my mac gets overheated too quickly from the usb. The staff is imitating activity. It is more than obvious that they not only cannot fix the problem but cannot be even bothered to do it. I have not come to this hotel to waste my time with endless phone conversations in Japanese with the help desk and the receptionists only to be told at the end that they think everything is fine and that’s it. Also, the double room is terribly small, it’s the size of a single room with a semi-double bed. There is not enough space in the room, like a desk or a rack, or even an extra chair to put your luggage, only three hangers. The hotel is not cheap at all. On top of it it was much more expensive on the M&M web site compared to the other sites. It was difficult to find it, it’s on a side street. The area around is dark. The reception is in the basement, they even have guest rooms somewhere there. So, when you enter you go down, from there you get on another escalator to reach your room. It is a really weird place, does not look like a proper hotel. In addition, it is not soundproof at all. I can hear my neighbour getting in and out! The room is double but they have provided amenities and towels only for one person.

Good location - just two minutes walk to metro station (Mita line, Hanzomon line and Shinjuku line). Lots of combinis and places to eat around (including those 24/7). As usual in Tokyo - pretty small rooms, but all the amenities are inside. So far so good... but! Breakfast is a disaster:( to be honest - it would be much better if they didn't serve it and called it breakfast. A pair of awful sandwiches and that is it. Stayed in the Villa Fontaine's chain in another hotels - have seen breakfast far better! Not all staff from the reception has good English, but overall - all the questions can be solved within 24 hours. Those who know - pretty helpful.

Hotel is in a quiet street walking distance from the subway (exit A5). The room was a standard size for Japan (not huge like in North America but it was decent). Staff was friendly despite their English being limited for some of them. We did not order breakfast with them (so we can't comment about it). While the hotel is not located in a busy neighbourhood (like Shibuya or Shinjuku), it was very easy to get to them or any other touristic locations, as there are 3 subway lines close by.

My room at this hotel has clean with en suite bathroom and everything was working the way it should. The breakfast was not great. There are coin laundry machines in the hotel. I got to borrow an umbrella for free when it was raining. The staff was helpful. Even if I checked out 30 minutes late they did not charge me extra. I recommend this hotel.

I have stayed at many of the Villa Fontaine properties in Tokyo and have always written top-rated reviews. Sorry, but the Jimbocho property does not meet my expectations. I had booked a non-smoking room including breakfast. When I got there I had to wait for an hour because their check-in time is 3pm, not 2 pm like the other HVF's I've stayed at. Then they gave me my smoking room that totally reaked of cigarette smoke and NO breakfast included.

The room was very clean and neat, a big plus! The room was a very small but just like other hotels in tokyo. staff was friendly, the location is in a backstreet which is very quiet, and just 8 min by foot to the JR station "Suidobashi". Will stay there again.
