I took my two sons to this hotel in spite of some unfavourable reviews. However, our stay was exceptionally good and none of the previous faults were encountered. The staff were attentive and clearly striving to make our stay as welcoming and comfortable as possible. The deluxe rooms we stayed in were superb...I had a problem with the toilet flush in my bathroom...fixed within 20 minutes. The pool, albeit a little scruffy, was attended to most of the time as was the pool bar. The food couldn't be faulted including at Waves Beach Bar where we lunched daily. Anyone who uses this hotel MUST use the Spa facilities, again where we were made extremely welcome. We went on holiday to relax and that is just what we did thanks to the hotel and it's staff. I am a Facilities Manager and can strongly recommend this hotel with confidence.
Only spent a night but service was great. Check-in and check-out were easy, the room was clean and spacious, and the food at Waves was quite good - I had the fish tacos and we ordered 4 desserts as a group and devoured them all. Love the pool area including the raised covered patio with comfy lounge chairs.
I checked in this property on May 25th that was the start of the worse hotel stay of my life. 70 percent of what the hotel offers isn't there. The swim up bar they offer isn't open ever they have the word SPA in their name. They spa isn't open they tell you to call for an appointment but you can't set one. They claim to have shower/tub rooms this also isn't true . The water actually wasn't work one more I woke up . This was a horrible experience for my wife and I
Front desk clerk (young lady with braces) was one of the rudest person we have ever encountered. She seemed to go out of her way to make us feel unwelcome. The place was a ghost town. Most times we had the pool to ourselves; nobody at the restaurant and hard to get service/staff in the lobby. Most of the traffic is from locals who use the gym. Our room was decent in size - small refrigerator and coffee maker. Phone was broken, drain was clogged and getting enough towels was a challenge. The whole resort is in disrepair and needs some TLC. WiFi is free, but does not work in the rooms....only in the lobby. We did encounter two very nice people who have worked there for 25+ years and they were very helpful. But mainly just picking up the pieces from the other rude employees. Would not recommend this property for most travelers. There are many other properties that value their guests.
Had a grand time staff was wonderful, food great, view lovely, I stayed five days with my cousin and I would sure recommended this hotel ,and oh please get a massage which is located down stairs I almost fell asleep on the table,can't remembered the guys name but he was great.I can't complain .
We arrived and were checked in fairly quickly. I the room there was no information pack which you would usually find, so we asked at reception about laundry, trips and various other subject which you would normally find in an information pack. We were handed one small brochure about a catamaran trip. We did ask reception to book us on a day trip on the catamaran Island Girl but after three days, Markus from the Black Rock divers kndly arranged it for us. Another guest told us about Hans tours who took us on an excellent island tour with lunch included, a brilliant day Hans!! We found it difficult to obtain drinking water. Some staff said we had to pay, other said it was part of the all inclusive package but the most difficult thing was finding someone to give it to us. The self service water container in the main bar was nearly always empty as well.We went to the Waves restaurant the next day and when asked what we would like to drink, asked what white wine they had and we were told Chardonnay and another. We chose Chardonnay and had a couple of glasses before the 5 o'clock deadline for all inclusive (you pay after 5). Several visits to waves over the next few days and we were approached by a member of staff and were 'told off' in no uncertain terms in front of other customers because we had been ordering Chardonnay, which was not on the all inclusive list. I requested a meeting with senior management and the following day my wife and I met with the General Manager, the Reception Manager and the Food and Drinks Manager. After.we explained about the Waves incident, the lack of information in our room, the confusion regarding the water, the General Manager and the Reception Manager apologised for the Waves issue and thanked us for our feedback. The Food and Drinks Manager was just defensive, citing changes they were introducing for the confusion. (His problem not mine I think). Aside from this, the food was good, apart from one occasion when we requested just chips instead of burger and chips in Waves and were told we would have to pay for them, as chips on their own were not 'all inclusive'?????? Overall the staff were brilliant especially Michelle and the Chef (lady) who came out to see us at dinner (we did not get her name). The room was good and kept spotless, as was the pool area. Whilst is is only a 3 star establishment, we have been to far better 3 star hotels in the caribbean, so we will probably not be visiting again
Visited le grand and the beachfront waves restaurant celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary, we wanted to revisit le grand as we were married in the courtyard of this resort...a review 20 years too late, no trip advisor then...it was a absolute pleasure to see not much has changed other than some upgrades, which is what you want Tobago to be ! Had a drink at le grand and a toast. Now waves beach front restaurant has changed, it was a shack, it is now a full service restaurant with a bar, casual food and finer food in one, different sections in the location complete with glassware and table clothes on a beach bar. Food was great, value for the money was good and of course happy hour.
I give them one star for the bartender Timothy, and one star for the view. Upon arrival on Friday, we were met with an unfriendly desk person. Went directly to the spa to see the facilities and were impressed. We made the mistake in assuming that their spa would be open all weekend and did not schedule any services the first day we were there. The resort was empty. Three staff members ran the entire resort. Which meant getting cocktails at the pool was almost impossible. When we asked about how to get to the beach, the desk person pointed down the hill. We eventually spent twenty minutes stumbling around different paths and stairways before going back to the reception area, where she then said, oh you have to go one property over to the grafton to get down. We met our friends there for two nights. We all stayed there. Eight people and forced to get 4 rooms as our children weren't allowed to room with us. Do that doubled our over all cost. I complained to the manager, asked that we be allowed to leave early when our friends left that Monday. We couldn't get in to the spa because they were "all booked up" even though we were one of four parties staying there. They wouldn't allow us to leave with our money back but magically the service got better after we asked to leave. Then in the last day the power went out, leaving us with no a/c in the rooms and they double charged our room for a meal that we paid for in cash. Tip: if you cgarge stuff to your room like good or drinks from Waves restaurant or the bar, make sure you get a receipt because they don't document anything.we still haven't gotten our $100 US that trey overcharged us. Our friends were very disappointed and embarrassed that they recommended le grand courlan and said that they had a really nice time about 5-6 years ago when they came. I guess all of Tobago is going down hill.
The hotel has all the required amenities. Spacious rooms on par with international standards. Lovely pool and the food at the Pinnacle restaurant was excellent. Waves restaurant was also good. Staff is friendly and accommodating. We received a happy birthday welcome and cake in celebration for my husband a birthday. The beach is a few steps down and it is lovely. The place is just super quiet. Would recommend some advertised entertainment on specific nights to attract more customers. We enjoyed our short stay.
The accommodations and ambience was great we had a room with ocean view and the sound of the waves was delightful at night the moon over the ocean was the thing memories are made of. Please stay away from the restaurant dining room it will almost spoil your wonderful experience , food was tasteless and service left a lot to be desired Go for the accommodation and atmosphere but dine elsewhere
