The staff at this hotel ( although not many of them) Chenice, Michelle, Melissa, Nicolas also Kenwin the great barman. Also Roger who gives great facials and back massages. These all work their socks off to ensure the guests are well looked after and enjoy their stay at thie Courlan .My only disappointment would be there not much to do at the night time as there is no entertainment. The hotel has great views and the beach is just outside the hotel, also Waves bar is a great place to eat and have cocktails, the food is great and again the staff give their all to welcome holidaymakers If you are looking for a quiet relaxing holiday, this hotel is the one for you. Was lucky enough to get to stay at the hotel while filming a project in Tobago. Rooms were comfortable and huge with a view of the sea - the beach was just across the street. The breakfasts were great and service was professional. Definitely plan on coming back next time to relax.
I have stayed in Le Grand Courlan Spa Resort for a week and i was fantastic. Amazing breakfast, super view, quiet environment - perfect place to relax. The pool is clean and lit up with colourful lights in the night, perfect for night laps. Room always clean and staff happy to help. I liked there was water available 24 h and that could hear the sound of sea if i wanted to. thanks Le Grand Courlan Spa Resort!! I need to come back and check the spa and joga!
A wonderful hotel set in a heavenly location. A return visit after 10 years. The hotel was full 10 years ago and almost empty this visit. I can see no reason for this. The staff could not be more friendly and the service was marvellous. Our meals were delicious, beautifully cooked individually for us as there were so few guests. The daily spa treatments were the icing on the cake, totally relaxing, thanks to the masseur Roger. I would not hesitate to return. The pool and jaccuzzi were clean and warm and the whole property well maintained..A lovely holiday. Penny Evans
One of the best rooms I have stayed in tobago. Refurbished, clean and large. The ocean view was spectacular The restaurant facilities were clean and there were nets to prevent the birds from entering. Quite useful. The pool and deck were clean. Not many persons around and I guess why there was little staff around. Staff needs a little more training on service but due to the decrease in tourism in Tobago it is probably difficult to get good staff. As I have stayed in spot of hotels in Tobago. Food was acceptable. I am hoping with the increase with tourism and the additional competition in Tobago that Tobago employee attitude to Tourism would improve. I would return but I hope the comments are noted.
While the place was really quiet as there were not many people there, the staff were outstanding and the rooms were comfortable, good size, and clean, but were a bit dated. The hotel is in the process of updating it's rooms at this time.
February is a great time to go to Tobago. It is lovely and hot with some spot showers to cool things down which is nice. Towards the end of February is Carnival time if you want some fun time. I love this 3 star hotel! The staff at the Le Grand Courlan Spa Resort are friendly and go out of their way to accommodate you, and I was impressed how they kept the hotel spotlessly clean at all times. Our room was large with two very comfortable queen size beds. It was advertised as a garden view balcony, which still managed to have a glorious sea view! Sleeping with the sound of the waves was pure heaven and so comforting to hear. The beds were comfortable, which is important because I am in pain most of the time and sleeping is usually a problem for me, but the combination of the beds, soft white cotton bedding and air conditioning meant I got a great sleep. Waking up to the sound of the sea and birds chirping outside is heaven. The inclusive breakfast was generous, with a variety of cereals, cooked breakfasts, yoghurts, breads and fruit. I loved the saltfish/smoked herring with pumpkin mix which was spicy and quite delicious. The breakfast is enough to carry you through to dinner if you wish. The restaurant where you eat breakfast and dinner has the most glorious of views across the bay. There is nowhere better to start your day deciding what you are going to do. The pool....wonderful! I think there were 8 people there at most one day, 6 average times. Sunbeds around to lie and read, and then when you need to cool off the pool itself is deep enough to really enjoy yourself swimming. Constant dips in this pool is a must and it draws you to it because it is clean and inviting. I like that there is a constant breeze which doesn't feel too hot, but be aware the sun is extremely strong and it is easy to get burnt quickly. There is an area above the pool one end, which I called 'the crows nest' which is covered with day loungers. I spent a lot of my time there out of the sun, reading and watching the ocean, and resting. There are a lot of step to get down to the beach and Waves restaurant/bar, but if you have a disability like me, and need as few steps as possible there are a couple of ways you can do that. The hotel has a ramp from main building down to the pool so if stairs are difficult, then no problem. There is also a way of getting down to the beach with fewer stairs which I could manage without too much trouble. (Stairs to the Gym, then across the Grafton and down some stairs to the beach). Waves bar/restaurant on the beach is owned by the hotel and it is a great place to eat and drink. Is the food expensive? Probably more than what you think it should be, but I was quite happy with it. Surprisingly I thought there would be more Caribbean type dishes, but it seemed most people wanted burgers and fries. The Tacos were delicious though. I ate the fish all week, shrimps, prawns and tuna which tasted delicious and totally different from anything I had back home in the UK. Salads with black beans are great too. There are other restaurants close by. We went the to Seahorse Restaurant and enjoyed the food there too. By the way, the cocktails.....lovely! I love the Caribbean but have definitely fallen in love with Tobago because of the absolute peace and restfulness of the place. We wanted a holiday to relax and recover, with peace to do very little but read and we found it. Tobago is paradise.
I made a movie in Tobago recently and our crew had the pleasure of staying at Le Grand Courlan Spa Resort. It was heaven. The sound of the sea sang us to sleep at night and their all-inclusive breakfast provided us the energy we needed to wake up in morning. The pool is large and extremely refreshing. The staff was friendly and accommodating and our rooms were always clean. I loved staying at Le Grand Courlan Spa Resort and would highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Tobago.
This is not an outstanding place - but a good 3,5 *. The rooms are on the outdated side but we had a nice view. the beds are comfortable but not a heavenly bed. the pool was great and almost no people - so we most of the days had it to ourselves. the gym is ok. there are two tennis courts which are fine. the best thing was that in 2 min you are on the beach which is 1 km long, with very few people ( there were days when we will see no one). the brkf is not outstanding but you can get eggs plus, so it is passable. all in all i would recommend to stay at this place but do not expect luxury - it is an average 3,5 hotel in a very nice location, close to good restaurants and fantastic beach.
Chose to stay at this "resort" to bring in the new year with my bf Let's start with security - the guard didn't give two hoots about who entered and exited the compound.. and at one point the guard was sleeping on post. The Front Desk - 2 Carib as welcome drinks - ok cool. After boasting that this is the more expensive hotel of the two hotels on the compound (Grafton Hotel is their sister hotel) I expected to be blown away - well I was blown BACK. The clerk couldn't explain to me the guaranteed safety I will get or why I have give them my credit card number with expiry date AND 3 digit security number and promptly told me well yuh have a choice to take it or leave it... ahhhh.. i left it - chose the refundable cash option. Then after agreeing to their terms then she informs that its LIMITED cable and NO internet (because upgrades nah). Couldnt offer an explanation as to why this wasnt highlighted before. Off to the rooms - IT DIRTY.. in fact it was STINK!!! The Housekeeper on the corridor nonchalantly said "i eh kno why dem check u in there nah.. it nah ready" then went about doing her other room. Called Front Desk - not an apology not an explanation. after 15 mins waiting they called to say come by to get new keys. HELL NO. I demanded to speak to the Manager who arrived 10 mins after to blame the customer before who checked out late. Never once accepting responsibility for the lack of communication between HouseKeeping and Front Desk. No offer of an upgrade or discount. His only apology - the customer who was there before left later than check out time. PISS POOR. Off to my new room now - torn linen, cobweb all over the place and yes.. limited cable and no internet.. NEVER ME AGAIN!!!!! Oh.. the food - the lady making the pancakes lil rough around the edges but the server is a DOLL.. and they were the only saving grace. The food was lovely. so cheers to the Food and Beverage Department for saving the rating from being terrible.. Check out - no communication or notes on my check in because the clerk didnt even apologise for the inconvenience.. I will never recommend this place to anyone and I will never spend time here ever again. Never once say the Pool Bar open. The Hotel desperately needs some upkeep and maintenance work,, DISAPPOINTED
