This is a very old hotel. No lift/elevator so that is something to consider. Blood stains on my bed wrap (more for decoration) Alerted front desk and guy was really nice and came and removed it. Paint peeling from bathroom ceiling. Noisy outside as my room faced the busy street.

Staff were excellent but were overstretched on the night we stayed. Dinner was delayed by over an hour and half and eating late does not suit me due to a family party. There is not much else in Thurso so was glad to have hot food anyway. Food was good and breakfast ok.

A good, well-run hotel. No criticisms. Also, we had a slight problem with a noisy resident in the next room to us. I contacted the night porter who quickly sorted things out, calmly, politely and effectively. The restaurant is exceptionally good - way above the general standard of freezer to microwave meals you encounter so often.

Our room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was spacious with plenty of places to put/hang your toiletries or clothing on. I think the walls are thin because it was quite noisy. The shower pressure was weak and although breakfast was good, there were no millk alternatives.

The gentleman that checked us in was great. He was very helpful with questions we had about the area, made sure we had our ferry tickets and assisted with the dinner service. The young gentlemen who assisted at dinner were very polite and knowledgeable about the menu. One thing that we would have liked was wash clothes. We would recommend staying here.

The staff were amazing. They couldn’t do enough for us. We had a lovely dinner. We were cycling and they made a space for us to store our bikes safely inside which was very kind. Lovely experience.
