I have stayed here for two days as I had to be in Brussels for two days for an assignment. Extremely friendly owner who makes you feel at home! It is a old style hotel which has its charm. Unfortunately I was there during the hottest days of the year. The room I stayed in had no airconditioning...... This was very friendly compensated by not charging me for the extra water I took to the room. Room is spacious and clean. Bed was good. Would come
I stayed here on one night on my way to Brussels. I really liked this hotel. There was a friendly welcome from the owner, a sensible sized room with tasteful and character decoration and a nicely furnished bathroom though no bath. There was plenty of hot water and the area is pleasant and quiet. I would definitely stay here again if in the area on business and would recommend it as a good stop close to the A40 on the road to Calais. WiFi was free and a good speed but it drop in and out occasionally.
I stayed here several times, both on business and as traveller through Belgium. Hotel environment is great, service perfect and facilities totally adequate for an inexpensive place. This time our room was a bit noisy and the bed squeaked.
So the situation is in a small village near Brussel, it is like a cottage. The room was nice, everything needed was there except for a water kettle...not big deal. So it is old style but clean however looks like the rooms are not cleaned everyday or let's say from Friday to Sunday... the furniture is quite old too, the toilet and shower fittings need an upgrade, also the electrical installation is outdated and some parts are loose and dangerous !! AND BIGGEST PROBLEM: the noise insulation is non existant ! I was in room 6, and in room 5 people were quite noisy at night, coughing, speaking loudly and it was just like they were sleeping beside me ! With earplugs it was just bearable... So not funny when next day you have to work ! The breakfast is belgium style so don't expect too much. The restaurant is not open from Friday to Sunday... One good point the people were nice ...
Stayed at 't Fornuis because of a company event nearby. Friendly service at check-in. Very basic room. Nothing else to do and no permanent staff around. My sheet had a big hole in it. Breakfast was simple but sufficient. Okay just for a night.
We had pre-booked this hotel as an en route stopover to Calais. We didn't expect to break down and have to arrive late but the owner was fab and allowed our friends to check us in so when we eventually arrived we could quickly get into our room. We are now waiting for our (slow) recovery service to arrange pickup to take us to our car and the owner has kindly allowed us to stay in our room for as long as needed. Plus, totally recommend the boiled and scrambled eggs for breakfast. Want to get home but would be happy to stay here another night, lovely converted barn
i booked that hotel via booking com ,received an ac with check in between 3 to 9 o'clock arived at 3 and everything had beed closed.after ringing an old couple came to the adjoining restaurant door.they had been helpful and tried to ring the hotel manager on differ numbers without success so they suggested that i should come back in the evening around 7.so i told them that i will kook for another hotel. anyway the whole place looked not really welcoming so at the end i was happy not to spend the night at that place.
First time I have stayed here,I visit Belgium monthly but stay nearer my office.I am glad the boss chose here.Rooms were clean and comfortable,Welcome and check in was extremely friendly from the owner I believe. The menu was extentsive and the food and wine were of a very high standard.Give it a try you will not regret it.
I had the pleasure of staying one night on business and was very impressed. The owner is extremely welcoming and has created a nice atmostphere. The room was functional but comfortable with a comfortable bed and a decent shower, which others seem to find difficult to provide. All in all I will happily return in the future.
